The data it gathered from 430 miles above Earth is offering scientists critical clues that will help unravel the mechanics behind the quake, including pinning down the specific fault that ruptured. Key data came from Sentinel-1a, one of a group of satellites launched by the European Space Agency that pass around the Earth every 12 days, mapping out the surface. The satellite relies on radar to measure tiny shifts in the ground toward or away from the orbiting craft, said Tim Wright, a geophysicist at the University of Leeds in England. The technique is known as InSAR and allows scientists to compare the data collected before and after the quake to assess the three dimensional movement of the land around a fault with almost millimeter accuracy.

Her father was also a butler for a wealthy white family, her mother a cook. In 1860, Osby’s ancestors were enslaved and working the fields of Forsyth County.

The Da Vinci glow is a common occurrence, and easy to see, said Christine Shupla, the science engagement manager at the Lunar and Planetary Institute in Houston. What caused that ghostly full moon effect, sometimes called “the old moon in the new moon’s arms,” was an ancient question illuminated by Leonardo da Vinci, according to NASA. Anyone with a view of the moon will be able see the Da Vinci glow, but the conditions need to be just right for it to happen, Shupla said.

Tesla employees shared videos captured by owners' cars on an internal messaging system, Reuters reported. From 2019 to 2022, some Tesla workers circulated humorous, shocking, or invasive videos on a company messaging system, nine former employees told the outlet. Employees shared videos of car crashes, road-rage incidents, and some more embarrassing moments. Other former employees told Reuters they only saw images shared for legitimate work purposes, like identifying correct labels. Camera recordings are only shared with Tesla if owners opt to do so, the company says.
