To assess the value of investments in generative AI models, companies must first develop their knowledge of the tools' potential for financial impact. We then help pair each use case with the right AI strategy, including the applicability of generative AI. To further support optimal financial operations for your company, your generative AI models must be trained to encompass operational and information technology priorities and perspectives. New York CNN —Ford is recalling more than 450,000 compact SUVs and pickup trucks in the United States because they might lose drive power resulting from a battery issue, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said in an alert. The models affected include Ford Bronco Sport SUVs made between 2021 to 2024 and the Ford Maverick pickups made between 2022 to 2023, specifically totaling 456,565 units. The NHTSA said that Ford discovered that an undetected low battery charge could result in a “loss of electrical accessories such as hazard lights, or cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.”“We are committed to ensuring the safety and satisfaction of our customers,” Ford said in a statement to CNN. Customers can also use Ford’s mobile service and pick-up and delivery for a fix. Notification letters will be mailed by May 13 and owners can contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332.

"This is really the first study to understand how the brochosome's complex geometry interacts with light," Wong said. After almost a decade of research, they managed to 3D print the world's first synthetic brochosomes. Wong's future research will partly focus on making smaller synthetic brochosomes to target the shorter end of the electromagnetic spectrum. Yaorusheng/Getty ImagesAlthough Wong's synthetic brochosomes mark a major step towards invisibility-cloaking technology, scientists are still decades away from bringing anything to market. "Depending on our imagination, I think there are many cool applications that can come out of brochosomes," Wong said.

Some manufacturers say indicator lights can sometimes serve a practical purpose. For example, an indicator light could show that a device is charging or plugged in and working properly. The light has a long lifespan and doesn’t generate excess heat — important qualities for a technology that’s used every day. “As a manufacturer, adding an LED light does cost something, so to add one just to add one seems quite wasteful. Linhares Jr. also said the lights can be helpful as night lights.

Nvidia and the Georgia Institute of Technology announced Wednesday the first artificial intelligence supercomputer designed for student use. At first, only Georgia Tech's undergraduate students will be able to use the computing cluster, which is fueled by Nvidia's enterprise AI software and a "virtual gateway" developed by Penguin Solutions. So far, students have used the supercomputer in just one class — foundations of machine learning — since the beginning of the semester, but Georgia Tech plans to continue scaling usage. Georgia Tech's supercomputer runs on 20 Nvidia HGX H100 systems, which house 160 of Nvidia's H100 GPUs, which are high in demand across the tech industry. For reference, it would take one of these 160 GPUs a single second to come up with a multiplication function that would take 50,000 students 22 years, according to a Georgia Tech release.

Eaton and DuPont are both unconventional AI plays, as the data center market grows to meet the demands of the generative AI boom. Wells Fargo Investment Institute last month described rising data center demand as having positive "trickle-down effects" on the industrial sector. WFII wrote that spending from Big Tech firms into data centers, in particular, creates "meaningful downstream impacts" for industrial companies. Amazon Web Services is reportedly investing nearly $150 billion in data centers within the next 15 years to support AI efforts. During a Barclays investor conference in February, CFO Lori Koch said DuPont's data center and AI exposure will help boost the company's electronics business.

While still a small minority, campers are more likely to own an electric vehicle than those who don’t go camping, according to a survey by Kampgrounds of America, the nation’s largest campground operator. Only about 1% of Americans currently have an electric vehicle, according to KOA, but about 4% of regular campers do. “We’ve had customers cross coasts, all the way up to Canada, all the way across Canada and back down, all with an electric vehicle,” said Bowlus CEO Geneva Long. Courtesy RivianThe physical layout of most EV chargers can be a challenge for campers. The vast majority of EV chargers are placed at the ends of parking spaces so vehicles have to either pull in, nosing the front bumper up to the charger, or reverse back in.

Some of Amazon's spending is likely to go toward its custom AI chips, known as Trainium and Inferentia. But the Seattle-based tech giant also buys Nvidia chips. On Thursday's post-earnings call, CEO Andy Jassy said AWS offers the "most expansive collection of compute instances with Nvidia chips." Alphabet's spending on AI chips has typically been split between its custom chips designed in partnership with Broadcom, known as Tensor Processing Units (TPUs), and Nvidia's offerings. Including networking products that stitch together parts of the data center, about 15% of Broadcom's semiconductor revenue was tied to generative AI spending in fiscal 2023.

Ronda Churchill | Bloomberg | Getty ImagesWith the opening of tax season only days away, the IRS has unveiled a plan to simplify the millions of complicated notices sent to taxpayers every year. As part of the agency's multibillion-dollar modernization efforts, the IRS has started to review and redesign hundreds of IRS notices — such as letters about unfiled returns, taxes owed or filing errors — aiming to help resolve issues faster and boost compliance. Known as the "Simple Notice Initiative," the program will eventually cover the roughly 170 million notices sent to taxpayers every year, according to the IRS. The agency aims to "review, redesign, and deploy" the majority of IRS letters received by taxpayers by 2025. The program builds on the agency's paperless processing initiative announced in August, which now allows taxpayers to respond to IRS notices online.

According to a McKinsey report from 2022 based on a decade of data, role transitions are inherent in labor markets. The generative AI platform dubs itself a "tutor for learners" and an "assistant for teachers." Meanwhile, nonprofit organization All Star Code had a scholar visualize themselves progressing in their tech career over the next decade by creating a 30-second video using generative AI platform Runway. There lies the ultimate caveat in AI-enabled career transitions. Panetta feels like the human role in hiring — regardless of the qualifications of candidates — will play a potentially bigger role in career transitions.

Some automakers are slowing down EV production, saying electric vehicles are too expensive. Auto execs have pointed to high prices as a big reason why demand for electric cars has slumped this year. These forms of deep brain stimulation require a surgical procedure during which electrodes — which generate electrical impulses to control any abnormal brain activity — are implanted into certain areas of the brain. With enough advancement in the field, doctors expect brain stimulation techniques for both severe disorders and health-and-wellness purposes will ultimately become noninvasive. Make America Build Again

America is the sixth-most-expensive place in the world to build subways and trolleys. The solutions will cost trillions of dollars and require a pace of building unseen in America since World War II. Perhaps the single most pressing question we face today is: How do we make America build again? "For this class of projects, federal environmental laws are more the exception." The prospect of overhauling our hard-won environmental laws might feel like sacrilege to anyone who cares about the Earth.
