8 Oregon 36-33 on Saturday in another wild chapter to their heated rivalry. Penix needed just two plays to go 53 yards in 33 seconds after Oregon was stopped on foruth-and-3 at the Washington 47 with 2:11 remaining. Nix missed with his next two passes and on the final play of the game Lewis push the kick to the right setting off a wild celebration of purpled-clad fans pouring onto the field. Washington was on the verge of an answer but was stopped on three run plays inside the Oregon 2. But the Ducks were stopped on fourth-and-3 just inside midfield when Nix’s pass for Tez Johnson fell incomplete.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Bo Nix threw three touchdown passes and No. 10 Oregon emphatically slammed the brakes on Coach Prime's “Cinderella story,” routing No. But the Ducks' defense sacked Shedeur Sanders on third down, pushing him back 16 years, and Colorado again was forced to punt. Colorado avoided the shutout with Shedeur Sanders' a 6-yard pass to Michael Harrison. Colorado had minus-33 rushing yards in the half — due in part by Oregon’s four sacks on Shedeur Sanders — and just 35 for the game.

Since he became president, Biden has sharply curbed how much he talks to the press, rarely giving interviews. He limits his press conferences mostly to duets with foreign leaders, where he can put his foreign policy relationships and experience on display. There’s something poignant about watching a guy who used to delight in his Irish gift of gab be muzzled. He knows his staff thinks he has a problem of popping off, and I think that has made him more timid and more cloistered. And when he’s more isolated, he seems sadder maybe because he’s not drawing energy from crowds and journalists the way he used to; perhaps his overprotective staff has gotten into his head.

That resulted in Charter's customers losing access to its networks, including broadcaster ABC and pay-TV channels such as ESPN and FX. These sorts of battles, which can lead to so-called blackouts for pay-TV customers, are common in the industry. They said they pushed for a revamped deal with Disney that would see Charter cable customers receive access to Disney's ad-supported streaming services like Disney+ and ESPN+ at no additional cost. "The [traditional TV] model has been very good to Disney," Pitaro said at CNBC x Boardroom's inaugural Game Plan sports business summit. Disney said Thursday that it has been able to secure successful deals with other pay-TV companies and is still committed to reaching an agreement with Charter.

A general view of the White House, where over the Fourth of July holiday weekend cocaine was discovered in an entry area where visitors place electronics and other belongings before taking tours, in Washington, U.S. June 12, 2023. ...The most significant factor considered was operational readiness during a critical time in this dynamic security environment," a White House official told Reuters. Biden's decision comes as Alabama's Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville is blocking hundreds of U.S. military appointments to protest the Pentagon's policy reimbursing costs for service members who travel to get an abortion. The blocks are preventing enlisted military from retiring, disrupting relocations and school schedules and undermining the military, the White House and Biden say. The Pentagon said the Space Command decision by Biden, a Democrat, would ensure "peak readiness" of the command during a critical period.

Ron DeSantis, asked the state Supreme Court to nix a proposed constitutional amendment that would legalize pot in the state. The Florida Chamber of Commerce and the Drug Free America Foundation were outside entities opposing the ballot measure in briefs they filed. In 2018, Florida voters overwhelmingly authorized medical marijuana usage through a similar ballot measure, and they tend to be similarly successful in other states. Despite DeSantis' definitive statement against cannabis legalization last week, his record on the issue has been mixed. As a US Congressman, DeSantis voted in favor of spending bill amendments to protect state cannabis programs from federal interference.

Opinion | Can Everyone Take a Sabbatical?
  + stars: | 2023-06-25 | by ( Tish Harrison Warren | ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: +2 min
I spoke with a group of business people and other leaders of faith who have come to see sabbaticals as a crucial spiritual practice. It’s important to clarify what a sabbatical actually is. What a sabbatical looks like depends on the field. For clergy, sabbaticals provide a break from the intense relational and spiritual pressure of running a church or a nonprofit. For most people in academic fields, a sabbatical offers an opportunity to take a break from teaching in order to focus on research and other projects.

Trump must set aside $5.55 million dollars for E. Jean Carroll while he appeals her successful defamation verdict. On Friday, he made the unusual move of asking the court to hold the money as cash, rather than as a bond. Surety experts say the move saves Trump the price of a bond premium: just $55,000. Trump attorney Joe Tacopina filed the request Friday with US District Court Judge Lewis Kaplan, who presided over the defamation and sexual assault trial. That amount could be nothing if Trump wins an outright reversal of the judgment, or less than $5 million if an appeals court reduces the judgment.

Apple is already working on two follow-ups to its Vision Pro headset, Bloomberg reports. Apple's sky-high price tag for its latest product, the $3,499 Vision Pro headset, elicited groans from the crowd when it was announced. Instead, the entry-level device could be called something like the Apple Vision One — or simply the Apple Vision, according to the report. (Apple already runs this risk, even with the impressive screens currently within the Vision Pro.) Meanwhile, Apple is also working on a follow-up to the Vision Pro that will be even better, introducing a faster processor, Gurman reports.

June 5 (Reuters) - The Biden administration has asked a federal judge to toss out a lawsuit by Republican-led states seeking to strike down a rule allowing socially-conscious investing by employee retirement plans. The states moved last month for a ruling permanently blocking the rule, which took effect Jan. 30. The Biden administration on Friday said the rule makes clear that retirement plans must base decisions primarily on financial factors. But unlike the Trump-era rule, it also recognizes that issues such as climate change and social justice can impact companies' long-term financial health, the Justice Department said. The judge in March rejected the Biden administration's claim that the states were improperly "judge shopping" by filing the lawsuit in Amarillo, where Kacsmaryk is the only judge.

Kyrsten Sinema told CBS News she's "absolutely" done with political parties and won't join the GOP. She left the Democratic Party last year and became an Independent before a potential reelection bid. There was less willingness for individuals to have their own opinions to make their own decisions," Sinema told Brennan. I mean, I just, I'm laughing because I literally just spent time explaining how broken the two parties are," Sinema replied.
Starship is SpaceX's next-generation rocket crucial for the company's commercial launch business and Musk's aim to start human colonies on Mars. The U.S. offers few such options and export controls would make building a foreign launch site difficult. SpaceX has eyed another Kennedy Space Center launch site for future Starship launches, LC-49, a few miles from LC-39A. But that location is in the midst of a lengthy environmental review that could take years. Plans for that orbital launch site, Spaceport Camden, were nixed by a local referendum after a lawsuit raised concerns about its environmental impact.
CNN —A Texas man who was allegedly scammed of $40 in parking fees while on a date shot and killed the man who posed as the lot’s attendant – and then “nonchalantly” walked away to proceed with his dinner plans, court records show. Before the couple walked into a restaurant, they were informed by a restaurant employee that they had been scammed, the affidavit says. Aguirre allegedly shot Nix in the torso, and he died later at the hospital from his wounds, according to court records. The woman on the date later told police she did not see or know about the shooting at that point, the affidavit states. Before being seated at the restaurant, “Erick started to look uncomfortable and suggested they go eat somewhere else,” the woman told police.
The man, Erick Aguirre, 29, was arrested on Tuesday in Aransas County, north of Corpus Christi, Texas, and charged with murder in the death of Elliot Nix, 46, on April 11. Brent Mayr, a lawyer for Mr. Aguirre, declined to comment on Friday. According to a charging document, Mr. Aguirre was going out to eat on April 11 with Melanie Castillo, who said in a voluntary statement that she and Mr. Aguirre were dating. They drove separately to Rodeo Goat, a hamburger restaurant east of downtown Houston. Mr. Aguirre paid the man, and the couple went to Rodeo Goat.
A Google employee said certain snacks are no longer available at its San Francisco office, per The Atlantic. Hungry Google employees may be disappointed to learn that their employer has cut some of its office snacks. "They took away the dried mango," a project manager at Google who works from the search giant's San Francisco office told The Atlantic. The project manager — who spoke to The Atlantic anonymously — said the San Francisco office also got rid of Maui-onion chips and small bags of M&Ms. The elimination of snacks is just one of many perks Google has slashed in its effort to cut costs.
