On social media — and even in the halls of Congress — certain Biden supporters are using Donald Trump's associations with disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein as an argument to disqualify him. Discourse about Trump and Epstein was reignited after documents from Epstein's first Florida investigation in 2006 were released last week. Other Biden boosters have suggested a coordinated media cover-up to boost Trump's chances or doom Biden's. Related storiesMedia outlets haven't reported on Trump's connection to the new Epstein files because there isn't one. The heat shattered temperature records and altered daily routines from the Midwest river valleys to the pine forests of New England, and left roughly one-third of Americans under extreme heat advisories, warnings or watches on Thursday, according to the National Integrated Heat Health Information System. In rural Indiana, sheriff’s deputies conducted wellness checks on older residents. And in the New York region, students left school early — some because their schools closed at midday, and others because worried parents took matters into their own hands. Simone Machado pulled her son Bryan, 10, out of school at Ann Street Elementary School in Newark, the largest city in New Jersey, early on Thursday because of the heat. By the time she got there, a bright red heat rash had already bloomed across his neck.

He looked genuinely upset earlier this week when his supporters sang an early “Happy Birthday” to him at a rally in Las Vegas. The Biden campaign hit back with an email on Mr. Trump’s birthday, reminding voters that he had fallen asleep at his own trial, a case that resulted in felony convictions. Images of Mr. Trump playing golf and sitting behind the resolute desk were painted into the icing. “I’ll never forget that Bibi Netanyahu let us down,” Mr. Trump said then. At the rally in Las Vegas, Mr. Trump had, in a rare moment of introspection, riffed about his old age.

“Donald hates his birthdays,” Ivana Trump once said of her ex-husband. Khan recently told CNBC that its AI tool will expand from 65,000 students to one million students next year. It also recently announced that Microsoft is paying so that AI can be offered to teachers across the U.S. free of charge. In fact, teachers were the only demographic polled where year-over-year favorability declined, though a majority (59%) still have a positive view of AI chatbots. Minority groups are adopting AI for education at higher rates, including the teachers and parents who are using AI to help children. Black and Hispanic K-12 students and undergraduates were more likely to use AI for school.

New Jersey’s former attorney general, Gurbir S. Grewal, took the stand on Thursday afternoon in Senator Robert Menendez’s bribery trial, becoming the most prominent official to testify against the senator, a fellow Democrat. Mr. Grewal was expected to offer details about telephone calls from Mr. Menendez and a brief meeting the two had in September 2019 in the senator’s office in Newark. Being called as a witness in a criminal trial was an unusual role for Mr. Grewal, a former federal prosecutor who now leads the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s enforcement division. Mr. Menendez turned to look directly at Mr. Grewal as he walked slowly to the stand. Mr. Uribe, who was charged last year in the alleged bribery conspiracy, pleaded guilty in March and is now cooperating with prosecutors.

One expert said eVTOLs fly at low altitudes and could create airspace and security challenges. The US's first electric vertical-takeoff and -landing aircraft are expected to fly commercial passengers as soon as 2025. It still needs further approvals to fly for airlines like United, but the latest certificate puts it one step closer. CNN —Former President Donald Trump has joined TikTok, the fast-growing social media platform with ties to China that Trump has publicly embraced even though he railed against it as president. “The president is now on TikTok,” White said at the start of the video. But Trump now says he opposes a nationwide TikTok ban, adding that such a policy would only alienate young Americans and benefit Meta. The Biden campaign, for its part, also has a presence on TikTok and has continued to post on the platform even as the Biden administration has supported a nationwide TikTok ban. TikTok has filed a legal challenge to the law Biden signed in April that would ban the app unless it finds a new owner.

When officials in Newark noted a recent increase in violent crime in their city, they were especially concerned about teenagers, both as perpetrators and as victims. They turned to an old-fashioned idea to keep young people out of trouble: an overnight curfew that had been on the books since 1992 but had gone largely unenforced. “Necessity is the mother of invention,” Mayor Ras J. Baraka said in a recent interview. “The things we do in Newark are sometimes because we don’t have a choice. After school lets out for the summer, it will be enforced on weeknights, too.
