ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Bruce Bochy was home the past three Octobers, doing a little fishing and hitting a few golf balls after stepping away from a 25-year managerial career that included three World Series championships. Bochy is back in the dugout for the postseason in his first season with the Texas Rangers, whose general manager is one of his former pitchers who lured him out of his brief retirement. “I'm having the time of my life,” said the 68-year-old Bochy, who is going to his first American League Championship Series. That's about 25% of money in all 401(k) plans. Typically, as long as you have $5,000 invested in your employer's plan, you can leave it there when you leave. A 401(k) plan comes with limited investment options, and the ones in your old plan may not be very attractive. This makes a lot of sense for people who gravitate toward simple, passive investing strategies, which tend to be available in just about every 401(k) plan, says Betz. A 401(k) is just about always going to come with a limited menu of investment options, and maybe this one is full of high-fee, low-performing mutual funds.

‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3’ Review: N’opa!

The story starts after the passing of Toula’s father, Gus, the patriarch played with grumbling affection by Michael Constantine, who died in 2021. Only six people remain in the village, and two of them are secretly dating — the series’s core trope remains a hushed romance. The oddest disposable gag comes when Toula blurts her sexual attraction to a mustachioed stranger (Alexis Georgoulis). The ancient Greeks wrote tragedy after tragedy warning against hubris. My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3Rated PG-13 for a suggestive scene on a nude beach with strategically placed slices of watermelon.

Vilda says Spain sacking 'unfair'

MADRID, Sept 6 (Reuters) - Former Spain's women's team coach Jorge Vilda said on Wednesday that he didn't expect to be fired by the country's football federation (RFEF), adding it was "unfair" and "undeserved" weeks after winning the Women's World Cup. The RFEF later announced it had appointed Montse Tome to succeed Vilda. Considered to be a close ally, Vilda applauded Rubiales when he refused to resign on Aug. 25 but later issued statements condemning his behaviour. The suspended RFEF president praised Vilda for the World Cup triumph in his speech and offered him a new four-year contract, increasing his annual salary to 500,000 euros ($536,000) from 160,000 euros. Their explanation was that of 'structural changes'," Vilda said about how he learned he was being sacked.

MADRID, Sept 5 (Reuters) - Spain's World Cup-winning women's team coach Jorge Vilda has been sacked, the country's football federation (RFEF) said on Tuesday 10 days after FIFA suspended its president for kissing national team player Jenni Hermoso on the mouth. "The coach has been key to the remarkable growth of women's football and leaves Spain as world champions and second in the FIFA rankings," the RFEF statement said. The furore involving Rubiales has quickly spiralled into a national debate over women's rights and sexist behaviour. Vilda and Luis de la Fuente, the men's national team manager, applauded Rubiales when he refused to resign on Aug. 25 but later issued statements condemning his behaviour. Spain's top 58 female players said they would not play for the national team under the existing leadership.

"It is the tip of the iceberg publicly of what we used to see privately," Veronica Boquete, who captained Spain at their first World Cup in 2015, told Reuters. In the case of football, the women's team's efforts to combat sexism and achieve parity with their male peers date back nearly a decade. Boquete led a mutiny seeking the resignation of coach Ignacio Quereda after a woeful performance at the 2015 World Cup, the only one his teams reached in nearly three decades. Quereda resigned in 2015 in a statement issued by the federation making no reference to the players' mutiny. Boronat, who interviewed Spain's leading female players for her book "Don't Call Them Girls, Call Them Footballers", said players accused Vilda of micromanaging, such as instructing senior players what to say in interviews.

The great remote work debateAs part of the war over remote work, employers and employees alike have debated whether or not a mandatory return-to-office policy actually works. With two kids at home, the flexibility of remote work — coupled with no commute — was a boon. The firms that are succeeding at remote work have saved money from giving up office leases and are making their employees feel happier along the way. "You're still in meetings, you're still engaged, but you're not under the thumb of somebody — not treated like a child." Have you quit over remote work, or are contemplating it?

Bad bosses have always existed in the workplace — they are typically known as the toxic bully, who is overly demanding and critical. But there are three traits that are unexpected and more insidious, according to one workplace expert. But there are traits of bad bosses that are unexpected and more insidious, according to Kevin Legg, the founder of Sage, a company that helps design and develop training curriculums at work. A leader who talks a bit too much during meetings can be a bit irritating for sure, but … there are worse traits a boss can have, right?" "Some employees may embrace friendliness and start thinking they are 'mates,' which will make difficult decisions and requests harder [for bosses]," Legg added.

But in order to fully benefit from in-office work, young-tenured employees also need experienced employees to work in the office as well. Now before the pitchforks come for me, I'm 100% supportive of remote work and I'm fully supportive of employee flexibility and all the great things that come with working remotely. But while many people talk about the benefits of remote work, few talk about its consequences. I've witnessed frequent situations where team members are reinventing the wheel due to reduced communication related to remote work. As a leader, my job is to create opportunities for team members to succeed, but also to be challenged.

Workers are getting poor sleep because of rookie managers with little training, a new survey found. Over a third of workers have been tempted to quit because of the new manager, per the survey. This is because companies often promote senior employees to managerial roles with little training. And, one in five workers said their sleep quality also suffered as a result. He added that IQ is less important than emotional intelligence, especially because young managers feel they have to be "the cleverest person in the room."

It's been less than a year since he bought it, and Elon Musk's Twitter is already well on its way to suffering a fate worse than death — irrelevance. How you do a turnaroundIn the early days of Musk's Twitter takeover, I told you he was overpaying for the company. Unfortunately for Twitter, Musk is not a traditional turnaround guy. Maybe, to Musk, that's a crusade worth sacrificing the very thing that makes Twitter special. Maybe this is the site Musk wanted in the first place.

Du, like tens of thousands of other young Chinese factory bosses, is inheriting a basic manufacturing business that can no longer rely on the labour-intensive model that made China the world's largest exporter of goods. Those skills would come in handy in a factory the Chinese state set up in 1951 and privatised in 2002. Like five of the other chang er dai who spoke to Reuters, Zhang never planned to take over the factory. Chang er dai, however, help lift the bottom, which is also important for preserving China's share of world manufacturing, two industry experts told Reuters. Not all chang er dai will get there.

Here's a closer look at Musk's unconventional style of management and leadership at Twitter, Tesla, and SpaceX. Musk told Tesla staff in the memo that he wants to personally approve all new hires. But in 2018, current and former Tesla employees told CNBC that Musk's micromanagement cost the company time and money. Berkshire Hathaway founder Warren Buffett — one of the most successful investors in the world — says he and vice chairman Charlie Munger are not "stock pickers; we are business pickers." "We do not wish to join with managers who lack admirable qualities, no matter how attractive the prospects of their business," Buffett wrote in a 1989 shareholder letter. When a stock price seems low compared to the company's value, that's an opportunity to buy. But that doesn't mean that Buffett and Munger seek out the best bargains based on the stock price alone. You're investing in the business long-term, not just the stock price at the time of purchase.

An Amazon marketing manager was told they were a high-value contributor. I started my promotion doc [a document explaining why an Amazon employee is ready for a promotion]. One thing that's in the ethos at Amazon is you're supposed to be allowed to make mistakes. So if it's something as simple as, "Hey, let's all try this new thing in Asana," and then the next day you're told you're horrible at Asana and that you're being put on a coaching action, it just seemed un-Amazonian. Newsletter Sign-up WSJ | Risk and Compliance Journal Our Morning Risk Report features insights and news on governance, risk and compliance. Dr. Klotz: Companies invest in employees, and employees tend to match that investment. When employees feel that companies are underinvesting in them, they start disengaging from work or they engage in deviant behavior. If it feels like you can’t trust workers, then you micromanage them. But most companies can withstand that, and the benefits of building trust with their workers outweigh the occasional bad apple.
Managers have become alarmingly distanced from the average worker, making calls based on guesses that aren't informed by actual labor. Musk has demanded that managers are able to create "good code" yet does not appear to be much of a coder himself. Jackson Palmer, a cocreator of dogecoin, said Musk was a "grifter" who "had trouble running basic code" in their interactions. He's targeted critical teams at Twitter and pushed others to quit, which have resulted in a huge upswing in hate speech on the platform. In fact, by his own logic of how managers can contribute to the company, Musk should be summarily firing himself any day now.
But the new era at Twitter could also be an opportunity for the company to redefine its brand for the better. But it remains unclear what Twitter under Mr. Musk will actually be, Mr. Calkins said. Twitter before Mr. Musk weathered a number of controversies that rattled some advertisers and users. But this is a potential inflection point for Twitter, Mr. Miller said. “I think the brand is irrevocably damaged, actually, unless and until Musk finds somebody else to run Twitter,” Mr. Kwittken said.
