Read previewA former TSA agent has revealed what not to do during air travel to avoid trouble both at the airport and on the plane. "The key is to listen to that first officer that you see past the ID check; they're going to tell you what to do," he said. Making sure you're alert can make the whole process easier. "Many people, they sit in those seats and they don't know that they are subject to helping when an emergency actually happens," he said. "There are clear pockets where they're not aware that they're about to hit and they can be very severe," he said.

“Purchase a ‘Do Not Disturb’ eye mask if you plan on sleeping through meal service,” she said. You can look ahead on the airline’s website to see what in-flight entertainment will be available on your flight. Move when you canMany people prefer an aisle seat so they are able to get up frequently without disturbing their seat neighbor. Ahead of booking, research the layout and model of planes on websites like SeatGuru to find the most legroom. “But it makes a huge difference to how quickly you adjust to the new time zone.”

Most of the time, however, mergers that seem bad really are bad. It is in neither the investors’ nor JetBlue’s management’s interests to pick a fight with the big guys. There was a time, back at the turn of the century, when JetBlue was a genuinely innovative airline. In 2014, Wall Street analysts turned on JetBlue and its chief executive at the time, Mr. Barger, accusing the company of being too consumer-focused. Unfortunately for customers, Wall Street won, Mr. Barger was thrown out and JetBlue started charging fees for all sorts of things.

Todd Plummer wrote for Condé Nast Traveler about having to give up his exit-row seat. The agent said it was double booked, and another passenger was traveling with a woman sat across the aisle. AdvertisementA Turkish Airlines passenger said he felt humiliated after giving up his exit-row seat so a couple could sit next to each other. Writing for Condé Nast Traveler, Todd Plummer said he was "delighted" to be assigned the seat with extra legroom, especially given he's 6 feet 2 inches tall. "Something about publicly singling me out as a solo traveler who should move to an inferior seat was disappointing, irritating, and downright humiliating," he wrote.

On overnight trains, splurging for a private space is worth the price. In private cabins, travelers get a bed, a sink, a vanity, and sometimes a full bathroom. AdvertisementIf you want to sleep on an overnight train, book a private cabin. But when I've booked private cabins on Amtrak and Nightjet, ranging from $200 to $1,000, I've slept better with no disruptions. So I recommend private cabins to all travelers with rolling luggage, a nighttime routine, or a desire to sleep well.

CNN —An easyJet flight was canceled and its passengers made to disembark after someone onboard the aircraft apparently defecated on the airplane bathroom floor. As the delay extended, the atmosphere on the packed flight was characterized by “suspense and anger,” Gedhu said. So that’s when the stairs reconnected, and the cleaners came on to deep clean the flooring.”According to Gedhu, passengers remained in their seats during the cleaning process. In September, a Delta Air Lines flight from Atlanta to Barcelona was forced to turn around after a passenger had diarrhea. CNN Travel has also reported on an incident on board an Air France flight from Paris to Toronto in which a passenger discovered potentially toxic blood and feces left over from an incident from a previous flight under his seat.

Chinese electric car maker BYD might be the closest thing to a true Tesla competitor. Experts say the auto company's Seal electric sedan is comparable to the Tesla Model 3. UBS analysts tore down the Seal and found it's a great Model 3 alternative for less. AdvertisementAdvertisementInterestingly, unlike Tesla, BYD seems to be steering clear from autonomous driving technology, and instead, is opting for a standard, Level 2, advanced driver assistance system. "Given the Chinese EV development cycle is still faster than that of the foreign brands, we believe Chinese brands' market share gains from foreign brands will be structural and continuous."

Now on many international air carrier flights there is a more civilized way to compete with fellow passengers: a seat upgrade auction. How it works is fairly simple: a week or so before a flight, passengers receive an email letting them know about potentially available seat upgrades. But no other major U.S. carriers offer upgrade auction programs. "Most major U.S. airlines offer a few ways to upgrade your flight experience, whether you're looking for extra-legroom, premium economy or business-class seats. From the airline's perspective, there will be a highest bidder, and those who don't win the auction are no worse off than before.

Flying over, they had a 90-minute layover in London, which should have been enough – British Airways recommends an hour between flights. Plenty of travelers these days are packing tracking devices into their bags, meaning that they can see where their “lost” bags are when airlines drop the ball. Each day, buying clothes and toiletries when needed, the family logged into British Airways’ lost luggage system to see where their bags were. Searching for her own lost bags in Florence airport, she had seen theirs and, after noting details on the tags, wanted Bunce to know they were there. The British Airways system still told them that the bags had not been traced, but now they had a lead.

Economy seats account for 79.3% of seats between the U.S. and Europe, down from nearly 81.9% in 2018, before the pandemic, according to aviation data firm Cirium. Business-class seats' share of seats sold has grown slightly, from 12.9% to 13.5% though premium economy's share has increased even more, making up 6.4% of seats sold, up from 4.2% five years ago, while first class seats' share fell. To find out how to make the most of downtime during work travel, Insider spoke to four experts about how they maximize their commutes. Voiceover artist Vanessa James said, "I use lounge access as a strategic part of my travels. If you don't have airport lounge access, buying a day pass is a good option if your wait time is going to be long. Business law professor Robert Bird says he doesn't opt for lounge access when he travels, and he only needs a quiet corner to be productive. Long car rides with colleagues to a work event or conference can also be a good time to brainstorm or collaborate.

It might not sound particularly appealing on paper, but 23-year-old airplane seat designer Alejandro Núñez Vicente believes double-level seating is the future of economy flying. You may have seen a photo of Núñez Vicente’s Chaise Longue Airplane Seat prototype floating around the internet. Núñez Vicente envisages an airplane cabin in which the Chaise Longue is in the center, flanked by two rows of regular airplane seating. He says he designed the Chaise Longue to solve the airplane seat conundrum – not make it worse. The earlier iteration of the Chaise Longue Airplane Seat at AIX 2022.

JetBlue Airways has unveiled new perks for less-frequent flyers who are striving for elite status, the latest carrier to rethink its loyalty program to reflect shifting travel habits. Other changes include:JetBlue breaking up its elite Mosaic status into four levels, with benefits corresponding to each. To earn level 1 of that program travelers will need 50 tiles, and that comes with benefits like access to seats with extra legroom at check-in and same-day flight changes. JetBlue is also offering perks when a customer moves up a level of elite status like pet-fee waivers or a $99 credit card statement credit. American Airlines late last year, for example, raised the spending threshold required for customers to earn elite status.
