CNN —Founder of the disastrous 2017 Fyre Festival Billy McFarland appears ready for round two. “Since 2016 FYRE has been the most talked about festival in the world. Many of the musicians who were expected to perform ended up backing out of the festival because of the chaotic planning. Prosecutors said in a statement at the time that McFarland defrauded Fyre Festival investors and ticket vendors of about $26 million, and that he’d participated in a separate “sham ticket scheme” in which he sold bogus tickets to fashion, music and sporting events while out on bail. McFarland was released from prison in 2022 after serving nearly four years of his six-year sentence.

What’s happening: The number of available jobs in the United States rose unexpectedly in April after three months of declines. Job openings climbed to 10.1 million in April, according to data released Wednesday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Fed Chair Jerome Powell has said that he wants to see more slack in the labor market. “I love what I do,” Dimon told Bloomberg, adding he’s “quite happy” in his current job.

Traders saw a roughly 36% chance last Thursday that the Fed will raise rates by another quarter point in June, up from around 15.5% on May 12, according to the CME FedWatch Tool. Traders pared down their expectations to about a 18.6% chance that the central bank will raise rates next month, as of Friday evening. Experts seem to agree that the Fed is unlikely to raise rates again in June. Jim Baird, chief investment officer at Plante Moran Financial Advisors, also expects the Fed to hold rates steady in June. Dimon said in the same Bloomberg interview that he’d “love to get rid of the debt ceiling thing” altogether.

In a break with tradition, the public will be invited to pledge allegiance to King Charles III during the coronation ceremony on Saturday May 6. While many Brits I’ve spoken to are simply indifferent to the proposed pledge, there has also been an unprecedent degree of public vitriol over the scheme. Yet, objections to the proposed pledge are as much about its content as its form. The proposed coronation pledge, in contrast, invites Britons to pledge their loyalty to the King, and to his “heirs and successors” – a positively undemocratic pronouncement. But some farmers argue the proposed tax would actually increase global greenhouse gas emissions by shifting farming to countries less efficient at making food. Farmers drove their tractors to towns around New Zealand on Thursday in protest. He said if the proposed tax and herd reductions went ahead, it would be ruinous to many farmers.
