Rather than developing its own AI models, JPMorgan designed LLM Suite to be a portal that allows users to tap external large language models — the complex programs underpinning generative AI tools — and launched it with ChatGPT maker OpenAI’s LLM, said the people. The number of uses for generative AI are “exponentially bigger” than previous technology because of how flexible LLMs are, Heitsenrether said. Ultimately, the generative AI field may develop into “five or six big foundational models” that dominate the market, she said. For nearly a decade, governments and civil rights groups have increasingly argued that online platforms have created enormous societal costs. Many social media companies have invested heavily in content moderation over the years. In the European Union, officials are looking to hold social media companies accountable for spreading misinformation under the new Digital Services Act. In the UK, the Online Safety Act could take effect as soon as this year, requiring, among other things, social media platforms to remove illegal content. “We’re going to have to look more broadly at social media after this disorder,” UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said in a video distributed to media Friday.

In July 2022, three months after graduating, I started a full-time software engineering job at Amazon after applying and interviewing for the role. I enjoyed working remotely at AmazonWhen I started working at Amazon, the job was fully remote. I went into the Toronto office a couple of times, but it was super empty. I visited the Vancouver office twice when the company flew me out for social events. Amazon asked employees to RTO and, in some cases, relocate to a new cityI liked remote work and not having to waste time commuting.

"People on Social Security are being killed, and one of the things I'm doing is no tax for seniors on Social Security, and I'll get it done quickly." Trump had previously pitched his plan to eliminate taxes on Social Security, writing on his social-media platform Truth Social on July 31: "SENIORS SHOULD NOT PAY TAX ON SOCIAL SECURITY!" Trump has vowed not to cut Social SecurityTrump has previously taken a strong position on Social Security — one at odds with many members of his own party who have faced criticism from Democrats for calling for Social Security cuts. For example, Trump said in January 2023 that "under no circumstances should Republicans vote to cut a single penny from Medicare or Social Security."

Editor’s note: If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, help is available. But what I really admire is her commitment to keeping her mental health in the limelight right alongside her gymnastics accomplishments. I learned to prioritize the trifecta of mental health: eating, sleeping, breathing. It also normalizes prioritizing our mental health, reducing the stigma, shame and isolation that surround mental illness. Your mental health is where health begins, and you deserve to take care of your mental health as much as Biles or any other Olympic athlete.

London CNN —Social media has played a big role in fueling the anti-immigration riots engulfing towns and cities in the United Kingdom. Musk later apologized for what he called his “dumbest” ever social media post. The UK government this week vowed to prosecute “online criminality” and has pushed social media companies to take action against the spread of false information. “Social media has put rocket boosters under… not just the misinformation but the encouragement of violence,” UK Home Secretary Yvette Cooper said Monday. It is unclear that the UK government has the tools to hold social media platforms accountable for their role in the riots.

Vice President Kamala Harris' personal financial records are under fresh scrutiny now that she is running for the highest office in the United States. Experts say recent tax filings show she and her husband, Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff, have largely kept their finances simple during her years as vice president. Yet that approach may have cost the couple as they left unclaimed tax savings through additional deductions, as well as other missed financial strategies. Workers who pay into Social Security while they're working should expect benefits from the program when they retire. Yet 72% of adults worry Social Security will run out of funding in their lifetimes, a new survey from Nationwide Retirement Institute finds. Meanwhile, 23% do not expect to receive even a dime of the Social Security benefits they've earned. However, fears that Social Security benefits may dry up completely are overblown, experts say. Nevertheless, Americans shouldn't worry Social Security will disappear.

Kevin Lamarque | ReutersWhen it comes to the November election, there is one issue that is at the top of voters' wish lists: Social Security. It polled 1,831 adults age 18 and up who "currently receive or expect to receive Social Security." Experts say the post likely refers to the taxes Social Security beneficiaries may owe on their benefit income. Exactly how much Social Security beneficiaries pay in taxes is based on their "combined income," which includes adjusted gross income, nontaxable interest and half of their Social Security benefits. Yet in a March CNBC interview, Trump said he would consider cutting "entitlements," which may refer to Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid.

Meta reported revenue growth of 22% from a year earlier to $39.07 billion, with 98% of its sales coming from advertising, primarily on Facebook and Instagram. Its growth rate was double that of Google's ad business, which saw sales increase 11% to $64.6 billion, Alphabet said in its earnings report last week. Meanwhile, Pinterest and Spotify , which are both significantly smaller than Meta, reported revenue growth of 21% and 20%, respectively, in their latest reports. As in previous quarters, Li said Meta's advertising business benefited from online commerce, gaming and the media and entertainment sectors, and that ad growth continued to be strongest in the Asia-Pacific region. She said the company's "improved ad performance" helped lift overall ad prices despite slowing growth in that region.

A survey of over 2,000 content creators conducted by the influencer marketing agency NeoReach last year found that 48% of creators earned less than $15,000 a year. Since the money that influencers make sometimes isn't enough to sustain their lifestyles, they balance content creation with other jobs. AdvertisementThe typical US-based influencer is likely to be making less than six figures and creating content part-time, according to research, surveys, and influencer interviews. Most of these creators have smaller audiences, according to former influencer marketer Emmy Petit, who is now a full-time influencer. When I was a little girl, I used to ask my mom to adopt another child so that I could have an older sister. But once I started to get older (and learned how to be self-conscious), I wanted an older sibling to "show me the ropes," in a sense. And now, as a young woman who successfully (I hope) made it through being a teenager, I'm happy with that. I didn't need an older sibling figure to look up to, or one to look out for me. Even though I'm highly independent, I still ask my parents how to do things (like filing insurance claims).

The two Texas-based creators met up to talk about potentially producing content together given their similar fashion niches, according to a lawsuit filed by Gifford. Lawyers told BI that if Gifford wins any or all of the counts, the case could set a new precedent for the creator economy. It could drastically change how influencers create content online and protect their rights. She said this case could spark a fire in the creator community regardless of whether Gifford wins or loses. "The audience online is really smart though, and they'll figure it who the original creator is eventually," Puri said.
