CNN —Two years ago, I could never have predicted the hype which surrounds tonight’s NCAA women’s basketball Final Four. Women’s college basketball is not just on the map for casual fans, it’s a star on the map – thanks at least, in large part, to Iowa star Caitlin Clark. Women’s college basketball is beating America’s pastime. More people have been searching women’s college basketball than for US President Joe Biden. Check the prices for the men’s and women’s college basketball Final Four.

Iowa's 94-87 win against LSU in the Elite Eight on Monday drew 12.3 million viewers, the most in women's college basketball history, according to ESPN. That figure topped the previous high of 9.9 million viewers from last season's NCAA championship game between the same programs. ESPN said Monday's figure was the highest viewership for any college basketball game ever on its platforms and the second-highest of any basketball game — college or NBA — since 2012. FanDuel told CNBC on Tuesday that Iowa-LSU was also its biggest betting event of all time for women's sports. ESPN said the women's Elite Eight averaged 6.2 million viewers, up 184% year-over-year, and represented four of the top five most-watched games in that round on record.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Louisville has reached an agreement with College of Charleston coach Pat Kelsey to become the Cardinals’ next men’s basketball coach, a person with direct knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press. Kenny Payne, a first-time head coach, was fired by Louisville on March 13 after going 12-52 the last two seasons at his alma mater. It marked the worst two-year stretch in the storied program's history and capped its third consecutive losing season after missing the NCAA Tournament in 2021. CNN —Another day, another record broken by Iowa’s Caitlin Clark. In the Hawkeyes’ 95-62 Big Ten Tournament win against the Penn State Lady Lions on Friday, Clark eclipsed NBA star Steph Curry’s record of most three-pointers hit in a single NCAA Division-I season. However, Clark has now surpassed the man who many consider the greatest three-point shooter in the history of basketball. Clark eventually found her groove and was able to sink the crucial three to write her name in yet another page of the history books. In a win against the Ohio State Buckeyes on March 3, Clark overtook Hall of Famer “Pistol” Pete Maravich’s record of 3,667 points.

New York CNN —It wouldn’t be a Caitlin Clark game without a record being broken. The average purchase price for her game, as of Tuesday morning, is 1,100% more expensive ($557) than the average price of a WNBA game ($49). Clark hasn’t said if she will forgo the 2024 WNBA draft — where she is projected to be selected first overall — or remain in college for a fifth season. That meant college athletes like Clark could start making money off their likeness. Clark has also signed deals with Gatorade, Nike and State Farm, among others.

New York CNN —Caitlin Clark, the University of Iowa athlete who last week became the all-time leading scorer in NCAA women’s basketball, is breaking more records. That meant athletes, like Clark, could start making money off their likeness. Fanatics told CNN that that it sold more Clark-branded merchandise “than any other individual men’s or women’s NIL-era college athlete across all sports has sold since 2022,” in less than 24 hours after she broke the record last Friday night. And the growing profiles of top athletes like Clark are helping to bring more attention — and more revenue — to women’s college sports programs and professional leagues. He added that Clark herself has a following of “Clarkies.”CNN’s Clare Duffy and Allison Morrow contributed to this report.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The first half of the All-Star Game was record-setting, and not exactly the more-competitive level of play that the NBA was seeking. The Eastern Conference led the Western Conference 104-89 at halftime Sunday night — with the 193 points the most ever scored in an All-Star half. The previous record was set last year, when 191 points were scored before halftime. The East tied the record for points in any half; the West also had 104 in the second half of the 2016 game in Toronto, which it won 196-173. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and other league executives were seeking a more competitive All-Star Game after last season's 184-175 matchup was widely panned — and television ratings plummeted.
