Simon & Schuster, which published “The Woman in Me,” did not immediately respond to questions about how Ms. Williams was selected to read Ms. Spears’s memoir. But in the world of audiobooks, the idea for many such pairings often comes from the producers.

According to two people close to the project, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly, three writers — all successful authors in their own right — made significant contributions to Ms. Spears’s memoir.

The fact that Jamie was able to reenter and quickly dominate Spears’ life with apparently minimal difficulty shouldn’t surprise us.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — An alternative mental health court program designed to fast-track people with untreated schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders into housing and medical care — potentially without their consent — kicked off in seven California counties, including San Francisco, on Monday. San Francisco officials said in a statement that about 10% of more than 2,500 beds are open for new people. The National Alliance on Mental Illness in California, a grassroots organization supporting people with a mental illness and their families, pushed for the new mental health program. San Francisco, Orange, San Diego, Riverside, Stanislaus, Tuolumne and Glenn counties launched the new program Monday. The rest of the state has until December 2024 to establish mental health courts.

(AP) — Sacramento’s top prosecutor is suing the city’s leaders over failure to cleanup homeless encampments, escalating a monthslong dispute with leaders in California’s capital city. A group of residents and business owners also filed a companion lawsuit against the city. The lawsuit includes accounts from dozens of city residents living around 14 encampments. Roughly three-quarters of the county’s homeless population is unsheltered, and the majority of that group are living on Sacramento streets. CNN —America loves to punish a “bad mother” — and there is a long history of using prominent celebrities as cautionary figures of abominable motherhood. So when news broke that 34-year-old musician Joe Jonas filed for divorce from 27-year-old actor Sophie Turner, it wasn’t surprising that the media narrative was that Turner wanted to go out at night while Jonas wanted to parent. I was adopted, as Mr. Oher believed himself to have been. And I’m a former equity analyst who’s a fan of Michael Lewis, the author of the book on which the movie was based. Those stereotypes, and the possibility that there is another very different way to tell his story, are at the center of the lawsuit Mr. Oher recently filed. Mr. Oher, now 37 and retired from the N.F.L., is suing the Tuohys because he claims they misled him to believe that the legal conservatorship they held over him was essentially the same as adoption.

According to the divorce filing, which was submitted in Los Angeles Superior Court, the couple separated on July 28. Mr. Asghari cited irreconcilable differences as the legal grounds for divorce. But the rumors of her latest divorce made headlines around the world even before the court papers were filed, raising questions about how much has changed.

CNN —Sam Asghari, husband to Britney Spears since June 2022, has made a statement on social media after filing for divorce from the pop singer on Wednesday. “After 6 years of love and commitment to each other my wife and i have decided to end our journey together,” Asghari wrote on his verified Instagram Story on Thursday. “We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other and i wish her the best always. The date of separation for the couple is July 28, the petition states. CNN has reached out to representatives for Spears and Asghari for comment.

CNN —Britney Spears and Sam Asghari are getting divorced after 14 months of marriage. CNN has reached out to representatives for Spears and Asghari seeking comment. Spears and Asghari wed in June of last year after becoming engaged in September 2021. Spears previously was married to Jason Alexander, a childhood friend, for about 55 hours in 2004 before the marriage was annulled. At the time of her nuptials to Asghari, Spears wrote in an Instagram post that their wedding was “the most spectacular day.” Asghari last shared a post featuring Spears on his Instagram on Valentine’s Day.
