CNN —A 20-year-old woman was shot and killed Saturday after she and three others accidentally turned into the wrong driveway while looking for a friend’s house in rural upstate New York, authorities said. A bail hearing is pending for Tuesday or Wednesday, the district attorney and defense attorney both said. He said witness accounts from inside the cars and forensics prove the shots were fired as the group exited the driveway. Murphy, the sheriff, said he was a friend of the victim’s family and lamented the killing. Over $50,000 has been raised for Gillis’ family in a GoFundMe raising money for the “Gillis family for use toward Kaylin’s funeral expenses and any immediate financial needs,” according to the page.

Jan 28 (Reuters) - The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said on Saturday it will investigate a crash of a Freightliner box truck and a bus that killed six in Louisville, New York. The NTSB said it is launching a six-member team to investigate the crash. Local TV station WWNY said roads were covered with snow and visibility was poor at the time of the crash. Photos of the devastating crash posted by WWNY showed it involved a Penske rental truck - a 2021 Freightliner box truck. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said earlier this month that in the first half of 2022 road deaths in crashes involving at least one large truck increased by 10%.

Six people are dead and three seriously injured in Louisville, New York after a crash on Saturday involving a 2021 Freightliner box truck and a 2013 express bus, according to New York State Police. Police responded to the fatal accident on State Highway 37 at around 6:02 a.m. All the victims were aboard the express bus, police said in a news release. Of the three injured, one is in critical condition and two are "seriously injured." A New York school bus driver who took his own life in 2019 after authorities questioned him about the 1994 killing of an 81-year-old woman was identified Thursday as her alleged killer. Town of East Greenbush Police via FacebookGuyette, who served in the Air Force in Florida and also drove a bus for elderly people, was interviewed after the killing but never considered a person of interest, East Greenbush Police Detective Sgt. Michael Guadagnino told reporters. The next morning, authorities found him dead in the garage of his home in Rosendale, nearly 70 miles south of East Greenbush, Guadagnino said. Investigators then resubmitted all the physical evidence from the original case, including a wooden coffee table with an unknown fingerprint, not knowing if anything would match Guyette, Guadagnino said.
