A judge in a rural Kentucky county was fatally shot in his courthouse chambers Thursday, and the local sheriff was charged with murder in the killing, police said. The preliminary investigation indicates Letcher County Sheriff Shawn M. Stines shot District Judge Kevin Mullins multiple times following an argument inside the courthouse, according to Kentucky State Police. Letcher County's judge-executive signed an order closing on Friday the county courthouse where the shooting took place. Mullins, 54, was hit multiple times in the shooting, Kentucky State Police said. The reversal from Hays certainly will not settle the debate among Christians when it comes from same-sex marriage. London CNN —Scientists in the United Kingdom have stored the entire human genome on a “5D memory crystal,” in the hope that it could be used in the future as a blueprint to bring humanity back from extinction. The crystal is stored in the Memory of Mankind archive in Hallstatt, Austria. “The visual key inscribed on the crystal gives the finder knowledge of what data is stored inside and how it could be used,” said Kazansky. In 2018, Kazansky and his team used the memory crystal technology to store Isaac Asimov’s “Foundation” trilogy of science fiction books, which were then launched into space aboard a Tesla Roadster. The technology has also been used to store major documents from human history, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Magna Carta.

The head of Boeing 's defense unit Ted Colbert is leaving the company effective immediately, said CEO Kelly Ortberg, marking his first major executive change since he took the top job in early August. Ortberg thanked Colbert for his 15 years of service at Boeing and said the unit's Chief Operating Officer Steve Parker would take over until the company names Colbert's replacement. Boeing's defense, space and security unit generated nearly 40% of Boeing's revenue in the first half of this year, but it has struggled with production problems and cost overruns, including on the new 747s that will serve as Air Force One aircraft. In the space sector, Boeing's Starliner is returning without the NASA astronauts who took it to the International Space Station in June.
