CNBC's Jim Cramer said next Friday's nonfarm payrolls — the employment data over the past month — may decide if October will see a market rally. On Tuesday, spice and flavor manufacturer McCormick will report earnings, and beverage company Molson Coors will have an analyst meeting. Cramer said the tech company is coming off the report of a great quarter and forecast, and he thinks the stock could have more room to run. Cramer again emphasized Friday's labor report, saying in order to have a "strong October," the nonfarm payrolls need to show some slack in the workforce. Cramer noted the jobs report will not come out if the government shuts down.

Likely corporate dollar inflows related to an Indian conglomerate was the major driver for the rupee's move, traders and analysts said. There are possibilities of central bank intervention given that it has previously bought dollars in the 81.85-81.90 range, said Dilip Parmar, research analyst at HDFC Securities. The appreciation in the rupee is also on the moderate side given the rise in the dollar index, Parmar said. The dollar inflows into equities have also been helping the rupee, traders added. The dollar index , on the other hand, has recovered from 15-month lows hit last week and was up 0.2% on Monday.

MUMBAI, March 1 (Reuters) - The Indian rupee hit a near three-week high against the dollar on Wednesday after a stronger Chinese yuan sparked a rally in Asian currencies. The rupee rose 0.20% to 82.50 per dollar, having strengthened up to 82.37 at one point, near its 55-day moving average of 82.3514 and at its highest level since Feb. 10. There were a "decent" amount of inflows into the market, and the broader sentiment was better, while a pullback in the dollar index helped the rupee, said a dealer at a private bank. Hence, the local unit is likely to stay in the range of 82.60-83.00 in the near term, Krishnamurthy said, noting that technically, only a break of either side on a daily close basis would trigger a directional move. Asian currencies and equities rose in response, while the dollar index fell 0.5%.
