REUTERS/Dado Ruvic/Illustration/File PhotoPARIS, March 24 (Reuters) - Strikes in France are impacting maintenance plans at EDF's (EDF.PA) nuclear plants, curbing production just as the utility hoped to rebound from a 34-year output low last year. At least 14 nuclear reactors in EDF's fleet of 56 have suffered some delay affecting their maintenance plans, data from the CGT union showed. For EDF that has meant nuclear power output in 2023 even lower than last year when it had swathes of reactors offline for repairs and checks for stress corrosion cracks. EDF declined to comment on the impact of the strikes on its maintenance plans. French nuclear safety watchdog ASN requested EDF revise its maintenance program due to new cracks discovered this month in some reactors.

The entire set was built around towering, white camellia sculptures that faced the audience, seated in steep risers ringing the space, a sprawling exhibition hall south of the Eiffel Tower. Most looks were black and white, paraded by models striding on shiny black platform boots, often with patterned white tights. For the finale, the massive camellia sculptures suddenly glowed red, and slowly shifted between red and a bright pink as models rounded the room. The catwalk presentation was held on the final day of Paris Fashion Week, which drew crowds of celebrities to the French capital, and featured big-name labels including Hermes, Valentino, LVMH-owned (LVMH.PA) Dior and Louis Vuitton, Kering-owned (PRTP.PA) labels Saint Laurent and Balenciaga.
PARIS, Feb 6 (Reuters) - French investment firm Eurazeo (EURA.PA) ousted Chief Executive Virginie Morgon on Monday and named a new executive board following a row with the group's number one shareholder, the Decaux family, a source close to the matter said. Jean-Charles Decaux, Eurazeo's chairman, pushed for the decision after a number of matters caused friction between Morgon and the Decaux family, which owns 18% of Eurazeo, the source said. A spokesperson for Jean-Charles Decaux, who is also co-CEO of JCDecaux (JCDX.PA), the world's biggest outdoor advertising firm, declined to comment. In a statement Jean-Charles Decaux, Eurazeo's supervisory board president, called the newly appointed executive board "collegial" and "focused". REUTERS/Gonzalo FuentesPARIS, Jan 24 (Reuters) - Chanel creative director Virginie Viard took a spirited direction for the French fashion house's spring haute couture show, sending models out of hulking, stylized animals crafted from cardboard and wood. They emerged, one at a time, circling the towering statues like ringmasters, in bouncy, cheerleader miniskirts, floral jumpsuits and shimmery tweed jackets. During her bow, Viard drew artist Xavier Veilhan, who designed the set, out from the risers while the audience cheered. The Paris haute couture shows, which include some of the most prestigious names in fashion like Georgio Armani Prive, Jean Paul Gaultier and LVMH-owned (LVMH.PA) Christian Dior, run through Thursday.
KHERSON, Ukraine—When teacher Halyna Shapiro returned to her school four days after Russian forces abandoned this city in southern Ukraine last month, she found textbooks on Russian history and literature, published in Moscow, lying on teachers’ desks. The Russian alphabet was pinned to blackboards in classrooms where Russian wasn’t previously taught. Students’ notebooks were full of poems extolling Russia’s virtues.

KHERSON, Ukraine—The first time Russian soldiers came to Tropinka Hospital, they told Leonid Remiga , the hospital’s chief physician, to take down the blue-and-yellow Ukrainian flag hanging over the main entrance. He refused. “You can shoot me if you want,” 68-year-old Dr. Remiga recalls saying, “but I’m not going to do it.”
VELYKE ARTAKOVE, Ukraine—Russian forces in the occupied southern Ukrainian city of Kherson appear to be laying the groundwork for a withdrawal, but Ukrainian officials warn that their enemy could be seeking to suck precious armored units into debilitating urban combat. As Ukraine’s forces press toward Kherson, one of the biggest prizes Russia seized after invading in February, Moscow’s military wants to sap their strength while avoiding the kind of chaotic withdrawal it recently carried out in the northeast.

Companies Electricite de France SA FollowPARIS, Oct 18 (Reuters) - Strikes have affected 11 French nuclear power plants, an FNME-CGT power union representative said on Tuesday, delaying maintenance at 17 different reactors. Power production was also reduced by 1.8 gigawatts (GW) at three other nuclear reactors, data from operator EDF (EDF.PA) showed. Members of FNME-CGT have been staging rolling strikes at French nuclear power plants for several weeks over wages, heightening the risk of power supply shortages as the French utility struggles to get enough reactors back online for winter. Maintenance operations are continuing on the reactors that are currently shutdown despite the strikes, an EDF spokesperson said on Monday. The strike is part of a general strike on Tuesday that has affected train traffic, schools and other sectors.
