Slideshow ( 3 images )WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Japan Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB) agreed to partner on advanced air mobility certification and operations, the U.S. regulator said Tuesday. The announcement comes as companies around the world are racing to develop and eventually win regulatory approval to deploy air taxis known electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft (eVTOL). The low-altitude eVTOL urban air mobility aircraft has drawn a huge amount of interest around the world as numerous eVTOL companies have gone public. Last week, Delta Air Lines said it invested $60 million in air taxi startup Joby Aviation for a 2% equity stake, in a partnership that initially plans to offer passengers air taxi transport to and from airports in New York and Los Angeles. It hopes to receive approval to begin commercial flights in 2024.
SAO PAULO, Sept 27 (Reuters) - Brazil's Eve Holding Inc (EVEX.N) said on Tuesday that Blade India has signed a purchase order for up to 200 of its electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOLs), allowing it to expand its urban air mobility ecosystem in the Asian country. A joint venture between Hunch Ventures and Blade Air Mobility (BLDE.O), Blade India will also collaborate with Eve - which is controlled by planemaker Embraer SA (EMBR3.SA) - on a three-month pilot project connecting passengers using helicopters, the company said in a statement. Transitioning to a cleaner and more secure energy system means tackling emissions across the major greenhouse gas emitting sectors — electricity, industry, transport and buildings. Taking into account the latest trends and government and business priorities worldwide, we now see incredible growth prospects for electric cars in the coming years. Electric cars’ cheaper running costs mean owners can often recoup the extra money they pay to purchase their vehicles within a few years. Expanding EV sales in economies beyond China, Europe and the United States will require more than carmakers’ efforts to broaden their electric offerings outside the major markets. Governments will need to push through policy reforms and provide financial support to help make EVs the most affordable option.
ZNera Space’s principal architects, Najmus Chowdry and Nils Remess, envision Downtown Circle as a horizontal stroke against Dubai’s vertiginous, futuristic skyline of seemingly endless skyscrapers. An ever-changing skylineAs compelling and radical a design the Downtown Circle may be, it is – for now – practically and financially implausible, Chowdry and Remess admit. Downtown Circle would draw power from both solar and solar-hydrogen cell systems. Part of the design concept includes an electric tram system suspended around the bottom of the structure. ZNera SpaceThe design was drawn up to align with Dubai’s optimistic masterplan for a sustainable urban environment by 2040.
