CNN —The Fulton County, Georgia, judge overseeing the sprawling 2020 election interference racketeering case against former President Donald Trump and 18 co-defendants says that all proceedings in his courtroom related to the case will be livestreamed and allowed to be televised. The ruling, however, would be subject to change and would not apply to any portions of the case moved to federal court. In a court hearing Thursday, Superior Court of Fulton County Judge Scott McAfee, who was assigned the case, said he would make all hearings and possible trials available to be broadcast on the Fulton County Court YouTube channel. McAfee’s ruling is limited to the Fulton County state case. District Attorney Fani Willis argued in her new brief that such a finding would not be sufficient for the case to be moved.

The Atlanta district attorney prosecuting the Georgia election interference case against former President Donald Trump and 18 others asked a judge Tuesday to order that defendants granted so-called speedy trials be tried together. Fulton County DA Fani Willis also asked Judge Scott McAfee to set a deadline for defendants in the case to file requests to sever their cases. McAfee has discretion on whether to sever the cases for separate trials. But defendants soon could make similar speedy trial requests, which would require their trials to begin by Nov. 3. In her court filing Tuesday, Willis said she opposed, "at this juncture," severing the cases of defendants so that they would be tried either in 19 separate trials or in smaller groups.

Jeffrey A. Clark, the former high-ranking Justice Department official criminally charged in Georgia in connection with efforts to overturn Donald J. Trump’s 2020 election loss in that state, was booked at the Fulton County Jail early on Friday, a few hours after the former president’s dramatic booking at the same Atlanta facility. Mr. Clark was one of five defendants in the case who turned themselves in at the jail after Mr. Trump did so at 7:35 p.m. Thursday, their appearances stretching well into the night. The last two defendants in the case, Trevian C. Kutti and Steven C. Lee, surrendered on Friday morning before noon, the deadline the Fulton County district attorney, Fani T. Willis, had set for them to appear at the jail before she would start to issue arrest warrants. All but one of the 19 defendants negotiated bail agreements with prosecutors ahead of time, and were released immediately after being processed at the jail. The one defendant who did not do so was expected to have a bail hearing on Friday.

The Republican-led House Judiciary Committee opened an investigation into the work of the Atlanta prosecutor who has criminally charged Donald Trump and others with interfering in the 2020 presidential election in Georgia. Trump is due to surrender at an Atlanta jail on Thursday evening to be booked in the case. Eighteen other people, including lawyers who promoted false claims about the 2020 election, also were indicted in the case. Traditionally, the committee's jurisdiction is limited to oversight of federal courts and federal officials. Jordan earlier this month received a subpoena to testify before the grand jury. The Republican Trump has said he expects to be charged this week by Fulton County DA Fani Willis in what would be his fourth criminal indictment. Georgia criminal law makes it a felony to directly or indirectly try to deter a witness from testifying in any court or before a grand jury. In his Truth Social post on Monday, Trump wrote: "Would someone please tell the Fulton County grand jury that I did not tamper with the election." Trump was indicted in early August by a federal grand jury in Washington, D.C., on charges that he conspired with others to overturn his defeat in the national election in 2020.

She said the special grand jury heard from a total of 75 witnesses during the course of the investigation. If McBurney ultimately decides to disseminate the recently completed report, as the special grand jury urged, he must also determine whether any parts of it should be redacted. Oct 26 (Reuters) - Mark Meadows, Donald Trump's former White House chief of staff, was ordered by a South Carolina judge on Wednesday to testify in a Georgia criminal probe investigating whether the former president and his allies broke the law by trying to overturn the 2020 election, according to media reports. The court hearing took place in Pickens County, South Carolina, where Meadows resides, because the Fulton County grand jury technically needs a local judge to approve witness subpoenas for out-of-state residents. Meadows' lawyer, James Bannister, had argued that the grand jury is civil in nature, not criminal, and thus cannot compel his client's testimony. The grand jury probe has already ensnared a number of inner-circle Trump allies, including his personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, who testified before the grand jury in August and has been informed he is a target of the investigation. The petition seeking Meadows' testimony noted that in addition to the Raffensperger call, he also attended a White House meeting in December 2020 with members of Congress to discuss allegations of voter fraud.
