Operating EBITDA of $857 million in the quarter came in ahead of the $818 million consensus, according to FactSet. DuPont's performance on profitability metrics shined, with the better-than-expected operating EBITDA and earnings results for the quarter compounded by an increase to management's full-year outlook on both metrics. Quarterly results Another reason to look past the light water-and-protection sales: Operating margins at both of the core business units were ahead of expectations. For the electronics-and-industrial segment, management said operating EBITDA was helped, in part, by increased volume gains along with savings from productivity and restructuring actions. The operating EBITDA guide was raised to about $3.125 billion, up from a prior range of $3.06 billion to $3.11 billion.

London CNN —Hundreds of Oasis fans are looking back in anger after falling victim to a “landslide” of ticket selling scams. The bank said Oasis fans made up around 70% of all reported ticket fraud between August 27 and September 25. Fans scrambling for tickets have fumed about eye-watering prices and long waits online. Lloyds said its customers buying Oasis tickets on a major UK ticket selling site splashed out more compared with any other music concert over the past three years, parting with an average of £563 ($731) per debit card transaction during the first day of ticket sales in August. That’s higher than the average £342 ($444) spent on tickets for Taylor Swift’s UK tour last year, it noted.

The ETF industry is gearing up for some potentially seismic changes in 2025 and beyond. Policy changes from the SEC are hard to predict, but the ETF industry appears to sense an opening to push new types of products. Private credit funds One big area of focus for the ETF industry is how to tap into the private credit boom that has become a key part of the U.S. financial system. Fund issuers will need the SEC to bless new types of constructions in order to get a private credit fund approved. "For the most part, private credit is an investment that is limited to sophisticated investors and not retail investors," said Brian Murphy, a partner at law firm Stradley Ronon.

The report estimated that school meal payment processors collect more than $100 million in transaction fees a year. “The policy announced today will ensure fairness for all students receiving meals at a reduced price, even when paying online,” USDA said in a statement Friday. AppLovin has soared 310% in 2024, beating every U.S. tech company with a market cap of at least $5 billion, according to FactSet data. The technology helps put more targeted ads on the mobile gaming apps the company owns, and works for other studios that license the software. They said the company's "real opportunity" is to catch the influx in brand advertising towards mobile gaming from more conventional channels like social media or legacy broadcasting. Because of its position in digital advertising, AppLovin faces potential competition from some of the most well-capitalized companies on the planet. In 2022, AppLovin gave up on efforts to buy gaming software developer Unity Software for $20 billion, after Unity shareholders rejected the bid.

Dan Griffith of Huntington Bank expects ING trusts will surge in popularity with dealmaking on the rebound coinciding with a "silver tsunami." However, Wyoming and South Dakota are also options as they do not tax trust income or capital gains and protect trust assets from creditors. How Hermès is bucking the global luxury slowdown
  + stars: | 2024-10-31 | by ( Natalie Rice | ) www.cnbc.com   time to read: +2 min
French luxury company Hermès has spent nearly 200 years emphasizing quality, scarcity and desirability — a strategy that's helped it dominate the luxury sector, even over its much larger rivals. Analysts say the Birkin and the Kelly account for between 25% and 28% of Hermès' total revenue. For fiscal year 2023 Hermès reported the fourth-highest revenue total of the major luxury fashion brands, behind LVMH , Richemont and Kering . In its most recent quarter, Hermès posted double-digit revenue growth while competitors LVMH and Kering reported sharper-than-expected declines in sales. Globally, many luxury consumers have pulled back on spending, particularly aspirational buyers in 2023 and 2024.
