When you're applying for a job, many career experts will tell you to tailor your resume to the job description. They recommend sifting through its requirements to see what's most relevant for the role and tweaking your resume accordingly. Longtime HR executive James Hudson, who's led talent acquisition at companies like Nike and Levi Strauss & Co., disagrees with this approach. "It's bad advice to customize your resume" for every role, he says. But the job description itself might not give a 100% sense of where the emphasis will be on day-to-day job duties.

CNN —Premier League clubs have voted in favor of keeping video assistant referees (VAR), the league announced Thursday. VAR has been under huge scrutiny since it was introduced to the Premier League at the beginning of the 2019-20 season. Last season, VAR came under even greater scrutiny as officials made a number of contentious – often wrong – decisions while using VAR. CNN has reached out to the Premier League to confirm these reports. “However, after five seasons of VAR in the Premier League it is time for a constructive and critical debate on its future.

Oil prices defied the announcement of extended supply cuts from the OPEC+ alliance with brisk declines, with analysts and traders faulting certain trading strategies and the demand picture for the downturn. "I would say that what the market is going through currently is going into an oversold, technically oversold market that is pushing the prices down," he noted. The front-month Nymex WTI contract was at $73.28 per barrel, higher by 3 cents per barrel from the Tuesday settlement. While some blame the OPEC+ meeting for the drop, we believe other factors — such as the option market—have played a role," UBS strategist Giovanni Staunovo said in a Tuesday note to clients. Renewed inventory draws are needed to push oil prices higher, in our view."

Oil prices eased in early trade on Tuesday, extending their losses from the previous session when prices fell to their lowest in four months, as investors worried about supply ticking up later in the year. Brent closed below $80 for the first time since Feb. 7, after falling more than 3% on Monday. Signs of weakening demand growth have also weighed on oil prices in recent months, with data on U.S. fuel consumption in focus. The U.S. government will release inventory and product supplied data on Wednesday. Product supplied, considered a proxy for demand, will show how much gasoline was consumed around the Memorial Day weekend, the start to the U.S. driving season.

Russia has poured scorn on Ukraine's attempts to invite its former Soviet allies to a forthcoming peace summit in Switzerland, saying the invitation had been rejected by its neighbors. "Kyiv and its Western handlers actively sought to attract representatives from the countries of the global South and East. Meanwhile, Western countries have tried to strengthen their relations with several member countries of CIS, much to Russia's disdain. Russia is sensitive over what it sees as Western encroachment on its own backyard, particularly as the CIS' membership has dwindled in recent years.

Oil prices fell early on Monday, despite a move by producer group OPEC+ to extend deep output cuts well into 2025. This includes 3.66 million bpd of cuts that were due to expire at the end of 2024, and voluntary cuts by eight members of 2.2 million bpd to expire by the end of June 2024. But on Sunday, the group agreed to extend the cuts of 3.66 million bpd by a year until the end of 2025. It will also prolong the cuts of 2.2 million bpd by three months until end-September 2024, before phasing it out over a year from October 2024 to September 2025. "The communication of a gradual unwind reflects a strong desire to bring back production of several members given high spare capacity."

A new frontier has opened in fashion’s fur wars, as protesters targeted the homes of more than a dozen employees of Marc Jacobs in recent months, using signs, noisemakers and fake blood in an effort to force the designer to officially renounce the use of fur in his collections. Over the weekend, Mr. Jacobs accused the protesters of “bullying” in a statement on Instagram, but averred: His brand “does not work in, use or sell fur, nor will we in the future.” He also emphasized that he had not used fur in any of his own brand’s collections since 2018. “This organization has made it clear that they will not stop their violence toward Marc Jacobs unless they get the statement they want,” Mr. Jacobs wrote. “While I don’t condone the behavior of this organization, I will always do what I can to protect, honor and respect the lives and well-being of the people I work with.”The organization referenced by Mr. Jacobs is the Coalition to Abolish the Fur Trade, or CAFT, a group that selects targets and disseminates information and resources to anti-fur activists on the ground.
