22 Democrats voted for a more narrow resolution proposed by a different House Republican. 22 House Democrats voted with the vast majority of Republicans to support a censure resolution put forward by Rep. Rich McCormick of Georgia condemning Tlaib. 4 Republicans voted against it, largely on free speech grounds, while 3 Democrats and 1 Republican voted present. That effort failed after 23 Republicans voted to table that resolution, and McCormick was among those who voted against it. Reps. Jared Moskowitz of Florida, Ritchie Torres of New York, and Josh Gottheimer of New Jersey all voted to censure fellow Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan.

Washington CNN —Meta’s top executives, including CEO Mark Zuckerberg, ignored warnings for years about harms to teens on its platforms such as Instagram, a company whistleblower told a Senate subcommittee on Tuesday. Meanwhile, both parties have united behind blaming Meta for contributing to a nationwide mental health crisis. Bejar’s research “is basically a smoking gun,” Haugen told CNN in an interview Tuesday. “Every day countless people inside and outside of Meta are working on how to help keep young people safe online,” said Meta spokesman Andy Stone in a statement. He said everyday Americans understand “the harm being done” and compared it to harms from smoking.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The state of Tennessee has agreed to pay $150,000 to settle a federal lawsuit by its former vaccine leader over her firing during the COVID-19 pandemic. The current and former health commissioners, and the state's chief medical officer agreed that they will not “disparage” Fiscus. It is very clear that given the power and the opportunity, a large portion of Republican lawmakers would turn the state against their political opponents: to disenfranchise them, to diminish their electoral influence, to limit or even neuter the ability of their representatives to exercise their political authority. So again, to the extent that “the Constitution” stands in for “American democracy,” Romney is right to say that much of his party just doesn’t believe in it. But if Romney means the literal Constitution itself — the actual words on the page — then his assessment of his fellow Republicans isn’t as straightforward as it seems. At times, Republicans seem fixated with the Constitution. When asked to consider gun regulation, Republicans home in on specific words in the Second Amendment — “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed” — to dismiss calls for reform.
