Michelle Lujan Grisham over her emergency public health orders suspending the right to carry firearms in some public places in greater Albuquerque, such as parks and playgrounds. Gun rights advocates have filed legal challenges to the orders and are urging the New Mexico Supreme Court to block them. In the federal court system, a judge has allowed enforcement of the gun provision to continue while legal challenges run their course. New Mexico lawmakers convened Tuesday for a 30-day session and could take up a broad slate of firearms proposals from the governor that aim to reduce gun violence, including a permanent statewide ban on firearms in public parks and playgrounds.

CNN —A Los Angeles County Judge ruled Monday that singer Lady Gaga will not have to pay out the $500,000 reward that she promised for her French bulldogs’ safe return following a 2021 dognapping incident. Fraud by false promise and fraud by misrepresentation were also listed in the lawsuit as the basis for damages. McBride is currently on probation for two years after pleading guilty to receiving stolen property of more than $950, according to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office. She was initially charged with one count of accessory after the fact and receiving stolen property, but the accessory after the fact charge was dismissed contemporaneously as part of a plea deal. CNN has reached out to McBride as well as Gaga’s attorneys for comment.

Eduardo Munoz/ReutersTreks at the airport have been getting worse ever since security changes were implemented after the September 11, 2001, attacks. In Newark, Chicago and other cities’ airport terminals, moving walkways have been removed to make room for more shops and restaurants. Some new airport terminals have recently opened without moving walkways. The airport is now building a tunnel to shorten the walk from security to the concourse. So, are people missing flights now because they have to walk so far?

Google, for example, has announced its plans to revamp its search engine using an AI model called Search Generative Experience. Google and Pichai say that the company's text-generating AI models will make its search engine better and could even answer questions that normal Google search can't. Zuckerberg was effusive about AI technology and its applications in virtual reality, ad targeting and recommending content from accounts users don't follow. UBS analyst Lloyd Walmsley wrote this week that generative AI was still an "overhang" over Google.

But the company delivered on those lofty expectations with a quarter that was the best among the group so far. Taken together, the company has been able to significantly accelerate revenue growth. Coupled with rebounding operating margins, the stock is now more deserving of a so-called growth stock multiple instead of the "value" label investors had attached to the firm last year. But for now, Zuckerberg has a pass because, to his credit, Meta's cost structure has been reduced significantly this year. After buying back $9.22 billion worth of stock in the first quarter, Meta only repurchased $793 million in the second quarter.
