We asked dermatologists whether Eto's skincare routine or just luck and genetics have helped her achieve flawless skin. AdvertisementEto has had a skincare routine for 60 yearsEto has followed a daily skincare routine for the last 60 years, using specific products from a Japanese brand, Manavis, for the past 15 years. Alster said that Eto's skincare routine has likely "minimally" contributed to her wrinkle-free skin, and having so many steps is unnecessary. Plus, Vitamin C helps protect the skin against the sun and has been linked to decreases in wrinkles, according to Oregon State University. Plus, research suggests that gut health and skin health are interconnected.

People with microplastics in their plaque were more likely to have a heart attack or stroke. This is the first time microplastics have been linked to health problems in humans. AdvertisementPeople who had microplastics in their blood vessels in a study were more likely to have a heart attack, stroke, or die earlier than those who didn't. Younger men were more likely to have microplastics in their plaqueIt's important to note that the findings don't prove that microplastics cause heart attacks and strokes but rather suggest a link between the two. This might suggest that microplastics in the bloodstream exacerbate inflammation, which increases the risk of heart attacks and stroke, study author Francesco Prattichizzo told New Scientist.

There's been one female team principal, and only two female drivers have officially qualified for a race in the sport's history. In 1975, Lella Lombardi, nicknamed the "F1 Female Trailblazer," became the first and only woman to score points in a Grand Prix. In November 2022, F1 Group CEO Stefano Domenicali said that about 40% of F1 fans were female, an 8% increase from 2017. For a second year, CNBC and independent research firm Statista are working together to identify the world's top fintech companies, to be named in a published CNBC report this July. Nominations are now open for the top global fintech companies list. You can check out last year's list of the top 200 fintech companies, which includes the likes of Chinese tech giants Ant Group and Tencent, U.S. fintech firms PayPal and Stripe, and European companies like Klarna and Revolut. In addition to the fintech list, CNBC is also launching a separate list showing the top insurance technology (insurtech) companies globally, planned to be published in August. Insurance has proven a market ripe for digital disruption, as a wave of new digital-native companies have done away with the paper-based processes that previously dominated the industry.

Former U.S. president Donald Trump pictured during a meeting with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg at Winfield House, London on Dec. 3, 2019. She added that the NATO alliance "allows us to prevent war." The defense spending target is not a requirement and many countries have sought to ramp up their military spending since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. NATO's so-called Article 5 mutual defense clause means that an attack against one NATO member is considered an attack against all allies. "NATO cannot be an 'a la carte' military alliance ... depending on the humor of the president of the U.S.," Borrell said when asked to respond to Trump's comments, Reuters reported.

At the center of that growth are newer genres of Afrobeats — the renowned blend of distinct West African music styles — and amapiano, which fuses South African kwaito with African jazz, house music and soulful vocals. The 2022 track became the first led by an African artist to hit 1 billion Spotify streams and has the record for the most weeks — 64 — spent on Billboard’s Pop Airplay chart. And some tracks meld the genres under the African music umbrella. That reach is particularly interesting considering that African music is produced for its people, embodying all aspects of their lives from their culture and experiences to their struggles, LeriQ says. The continent leads mobile device web traffic in the world, according to the U.S. International Trade Administration, translating to more market opportunities for artists.

London CNN —Allowing children to play impact sports, such as rugby or boxing, amounts to a form of child abuse, researchers from three British universities said in a new study. “The child’s brain doesn’t know or care how it was traumatized,” study lead author Eric Anderson, Professor of Sport at the University of Winchester, told CNN. And so we need to stop parents from hitting children in the head as punishment. The study argues that children cannot consent to taking part in highly dangerous activities such as impact sports, nor can adults give informed consent on their behalf. “If we were to invent sports from the get-go today, we wouldn’t be inventing sports that had children hitting their brains,” Anderson said.

Learn moreKnowledge is power, the saying goes, so you may be tempted to use wearables to track your health data in the hopes of preventing or managing an illness or hitting certain fitness goals. Plus, it's important to take the data, which might not be entirely accurate, with a pinch of salt, Probert said. That doesn't mean the best fitness trackers aren't helpful, it just means you shouldn't take their data as gospel. Fitness trackers can't know our metabolic rates and how much muscle we have compared to body fat, which affects our energy expenditure. And, Probert cautioned, it's important not to stop listening to your body and checking in with how you feel when using such devices.

After a blank-check SPAC goes public, it will usually announce within two years the acquisition of a target company, which is known as a de-SPAC transaction. It would, for example, make the target company legally liable for any statement made about future results by assuming responsibility for disclosures. Logos of online social media and social networking sites displayed on a smartphone screen on August 01, 2023 in Bath, England. Many social media sites have introduced e-commerce features on their platforms, providing an alternative to popular online shopping sites like Lazada and Shopee. For example, users can purchase directly from TikTok shop or Facebook Marketplace without navigating outside of the application. Creators promoting products can also appeal to Gen Zers' preference for credibility by using livestreaming functions on social media platforms. As Gen Zers are digitally savvy, they rely a lot on social media nano-influencers to guide their purchasing decisions, he said.

Pros: Mexico ranked first in InterNations’ 2023 Expat Insider survey and has ranked among the top five countries since 2014. Cons: As is the case in Mexico and other countries with large expat communities, there’s growing backlash against the influx of foreigners, especially Americans, and especially in Lisbon. That popularity among auslanders has contributed to a housing pinch in major cities, especially Berlin, where finding accommodation is one of the most stressful aspects of a move.

European fintech firm Revolut on Thursday said it appointed former Barclays executive Francesca Carlesi as its new U.K. CEO. A spokesperson for Revolut told CNBC that the move was not linked to its application for a banking license. Carlesi would be in charge of the company's U.K. operation — which, once it receives a banking license, would manage the Revolut banking division. The appointment comes at a time when Revolut is beefing up its local operation amid a long wait to obtain a coveted British banking license. Revolut was late to file its accounts earlier this year, which exposed the company to criticisms over whether it is ready to become a fully licensed bank.

If you Google your name, address or phone number, you might be surprised by the number of results you see with your personal information. There's a hidden feature in Google that will alert you when it finds these results, though, allowing you to remove them. Instead, this feature proactively searches for your phone number, email and home address and will alert you when it finds something. Then, you can just tell Google to delete it from search results. Note: Google doesn't remove your information from the internet, but it scrubs it from Google Search and makes it harder for people to find.
