During an event in Sonora, Lopez Obrador signed the decree that orders the energy ministry "to take the actions necessary to carry out" the nationalization process. It also declares 234,855 hectares (907 square miles) in Sonora as a mining zone known as Li-MX 1. "(Let's make) the nation be the owner of this strategic mineral," Lopez Obrador said during the event. Mexico holds important potential lithium deposits, a highly sought material for the production of electric vehicle batteries.

Mexico does not yet have commercial lithium production, though close to a dozen foreign companies hold contracts to explore potential deposits. The role of foreign companies will be centered in building infrastructure and state entities will hold the majority stakes in the projects, he added. Lopez Obrador nationalized Mexico's lithium deposits in April, hoping to cash in on surging demand for the metal. Though Mexico does not currently produce lithium, the finance ministry estimated the value of Sonora lithium reserves at $600 billion.

While some may be tempted to offer the Sonoran Desert Toad a kiss, the National Park Service urged visitors to leave the potentially deadly amphibians alone. In a Facebook post last week, the government agency warned visitors against licking the toads if they stumble across them. It's unclear whether there was a specific instance to prompt the advisory, but "here we are," the National Park Service wrote. People have exploited the toad's toxin as psychedelic, smoking it to experience euphoria and hallucinations, according to the Oakland Zoo. The Sonoran Desert toad, also referred to as a the Colorado River toad, is one of the largest toads native to North America and measures about 7 inches in length, the National Park Service said.

The relevant psychoactive substance, 5-MeO-DMT, is illegal in the US and designated a Schedule 1 substance, but that hasn't stopped it from accruing fans. Some are concerned that the growing embrace of psychedelics and 5-MeO-DMT could threaten the existence of the Sonoran Desert toad due to illegal poaching and overharvesting, the Times reported.

În program vor răsuna fragmente din fundamentala „Arta fugii”, precum și două din îndrăgitele concerte pentru pian și orchestră de coarde de J.S. Pe 25 iunie, festivalul va continua cu tradiționalul recital de orgă, „regele instrumentelor” punctând un rol decisiv în creația și viața lui Bach. În anul 2000, cu ocazia marcării a 250 de ani de la moartea marelui compozitor, organistul a prezentat în Germania o serie unică de concerte în care a interpretat toată creația de orgă a lui Bach. Festivalul va culmina în data de 30 iunie , tradițional, cu o lucrare monumentală – oratoriul „Patimile după Ioan” („Johannes Passion”) de J.S.
