This was, perhaps, the closest thing the White Sox have had to a prideful moment all season. As The Athletic’s Jayson Stark noted, the White Sox have used 29 position players this season. After their most recent downturn — a 12-game skid — the White Sox besting the Mets for worst ever became a matter of when, not if. Getz insisted the White Sox are on the right trajectory and even said ownership will “potentially” invest more in the organizational infrastructure. Now members of this White Sox team will shoulder the burden of 121 losses and counting into an uncertain future.

The People's Bank of China this week cut major interest rates, and announced plans to lower rates for existing mortgage holders. Questions about scaleFor some investment institutions, that's still not enough to move the needle on their China outlook. A survey in September of more than 1,200 companies in China by the U.S.-based China Beige Book found that corporate borrowing declined, despite historic lows in the costs to do so.

By comparison, from Ohio’s March primary through August, Democrats held the edge, dropping $78.5 million on ads to Republicans’ $59 million. “Bernie’s special interest allies are dumping hundreds of millions of dollars into this race to try and defeat Sherrod because they know Sherrod will always stand up to them to do what’s right for Ohio,” Brown spokesperson Matt Keyes said in a statement. Democrats, who hold a one-seat majority in the Senate, are growing increasingly nervous about Sen. Jon Tester’s re-election bid in Montana. Democrats had a clear advertising advantage coming out of a contentious March primary that cost Moreno’s campaign millions of dollars to win. Emmanuel Littlejohn, 52, received a lethal injection at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary and was declared dead at 10:17 a.m. His execution came after Republican Gov. The five executions would also mark another grim milestone — 1,600 executions since the death penalty was reinstated by the U.S. Supreme Court in 1976, according to the Death Penalty Information Center. Littlejohn was 20 when prosecutors say he and co-defendant Glenn Bethany robbed the Root-N-Scoot convenience store in south Oklahoma City in June 1992. Littlejohn’s attorneys also argued that killings resulting from a robbery are rarely considered death penalty cases and that prosecutors today would not have pursued the ultimate punishment. Because of the board’s 3-2 recommendation, Stitt had the option of commuting Littlejohn’s sentence to life in prison without parole.

A disclaimer on the website discloses that neither Trump nor his company designed, manufactured, distributed or sold the watches. Rather, a company named “TheBestWatchesOnEarth LLC” licensed the Trump name to sell the line of wrist watches. This week, he also launched “Trump Coins” – a 1oz .999% silver medallion with the former president’s face on one side and his signature on the White House on the back. CNN —China’s newest nuclear-powered submarine sank pierside in the spring and the Chinese Navy tried to conceal the loss, according to two US defense officials. The attack submarine was the first of its new Zhou-class line of vessels, the official said, under construction at a shipyard near the city of Wuhan. “It’s not surprising that the PLA Navy would try to conceal the fact that their new first-in-class nuclear-powered attack submarine sank pierside,” said the senior US defense official. According to the latest China military power report from 2023, the PLA Navy operates six nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines, six nuclear-powered attack submarines, and 48 diesel-powered attack submarines. The PLA Navy has 370 platforms, which includes 234 warships, according to CRS, while the US has 219 warships.
