I never went home.”The couple, along with Jet, continued on, walking down the east coast of Scotland together, and then into England. According to Barron, Lewis tends to walk ahead on these occasions. Unsurprisingly, walking and camping with a baby has been a totally different experience for both of them.

CNN —A sprawling Scottish castle is on sale for offers over £30,000 ($37,000), but there is a catch; its current owners estimate that it requires an additional £12 million ($14.8 million) for restoration. Situated on Fetlar, the fourth largest of the Shetland Islands, Brough Lodge is in one of the most remote parts of the UK. The island is home to around 69 people, according to the Fetlar Community Association website – an increase from its lowest population of 48 in early 2009. Nestled into the hillside, the castle overlooks Fetlar’s grassland and rugged cliffs stretching down to the sea, as well as the surrounding islands. It has been empty since the 1970s, although it was made wind and watertight about 10 years ago by its current owners, the Brough Lodge Trust, following a fundraising campaign.

Scotland offers some of the windiest conditions in Europe, making the Shetland Islands, located in the northernmost region of the U.K., the best place to develop and harvest wind energy. To that end, British power firm SSE has invested millions into what will be the country's largest onshore wind farm when it is completed in 2024. The Viking wind farm, with its 103 turbines, could power almost half a million homes. However, a lack of capacity in the U.K.'s power grid could derail its ambitious goal of being carbon-free by 2030. We visited the Viking wind farm that has been in the making for more than 15 years to find out more.
When my dog started behaving protective around me, I wondered what was going on. Winston started choosing me to cuddle with, hopping on to our couch and sitting on my feet to keep them warm. When this dog started jumping on another colleague's lap and settling in for long snuggles, its owner had a strong hunch about why. How to help prepare your dog for your new babyYour dog may or may not be aware of an impending arrival. She also tells dog owners to be mindful that an owner's pregnancy can be a stressful time for dogs and that they may require extra attention and care whenever you can give it.
The chief executive of British power firm SSE says a rapid build-out of renewable projects can help the U.K. to secure its energy security and bring costs down for consumers. "Consumers everywhere across Europe have seen prices rise significantly," SSE CEO Alistair Phillips-Davies told CNBC's Arabile Gumede from the firm's Viking Wind Farm in the Shetland Islands, Scotland. Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in Feb. 2022 prompted a radical upheaval of Europe's energy supplies. U.K. Energy Security Secretary Grant Shapps reaffirmed the government's plan to deliver greater energy independence last month, pledging to seek to power the country by switching to home-grown sources, including nuclear and renewables. Asked whether the U.K. possessed enough wind energy to power at least most of the U.K., SSE's Phillips-Davies replied, "I definitely think the U.K. has got a huge amount of natural resources.
WASHINGTON, March 9 (Reuters) - A dwarf elephant the size of a Shetland pony once roamed the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. They were examples of the "island effect," a rule in evolutionary biology describing how large-bodied species tend to downsize on islands while small-bodied species upsize. Extinction risk was seen highest among species that underwent more extreme body size shifts compared to mainland relatives. But small-bodied species, because there is a decreased risk from predators on islands, are emancipated from evolutionary constraints on their size. It once was home to a dwarf elephant relative, giant rats and a giant stork, as well as a dwarf human species - Homo floresiensis, nicknamed the "Hobbit," standing just 3-1/2 feet tall (106 cm) tall.
Norway's Equinor nears deal to buy Suncor's UK oilfields

LONDON, March 1 (Reuters) - Norway's Equinor (EQNR.OL) is close to reaching a deal to buy Suncor Energy's (SU.TO) British North Sea oil and gas assets for around $1 billion, three sources familiar with the matter told Reuters on Wednesday. The deal includes Suncor's 40% stake in the Equinor-operated offshore Rosebank oil and gas project, located some 130 km (80 miles) northwest of Shetland Islands, and one of the largest developments in the ageing basin. Equinor, which already owns 40% of Rosebank, had previously estimated the project's cost at about 4.3 billion pounds ($5.22 billion). The windfall tax led many companies, including Equinor, to warn that they could reduce their UK North Sea investments. The acquisition of the Suncor assets gives Equinor a large amount of tax losses that it could use to offset future investments in the basin, the sources said.
Greenpeace activists used ropes to climb aboard a ship carrying a Shell oil platform. Four activists have been aboard the vessel in a protest against climate devastation for five days. Climate activists on the Shell oil platform. The company said the protest was a safety concern, given the "number of people boarding a moving vessel in rough conditions." The activists, however, are experienced climbers who have "undergone thorough training to take part in this action," a Greenpeace spokesperson said, adding they take safety "very seriously."
CNN —Activists from the campaign group Greenpeace have boarded a ship in the Atlantic Ocean and scaled a Shell oil platform that is currently being transported to the North Sea. The company has benefited from very high oil and gas prices following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Shell is moving the platform to the Penguins oil and gas field, northeast of the Shetland Islands in Scotland to help unlock new wells. The field is expected to produce 45,000 barrels of oil or gas equivalent a day. LONDON, Nov 16 (Reuters) - Britain issued its first spaceport licence on Wednesday, paving the way for the country's maiden satellite launch later this year as it looks to become Europe's leading space industry player. The licence was issued to Spaceport Cornwall. The first UK launch is expected before the end of the year, the UK Space Agency's deputy chief executive, Ian Annett, said in a CAA statement. Virgin Orbit plans to use a modified Boeing 747 with a rocket attached under its wing. The CAA said Spaceport Cornwall had demonstrated it had met the appropriate safety, security and environmental requirements to become a spaceport.
A remote set of UK islands were cut off from all communication Thursday, police said. A communications company said there was a "break" in a vital undersea cable. Local police on the Shetland Islands said that there was a "complete outage" in the islands and that "phones, internet and computers are not usable."
