He has one Grammy and 18 Latin Grammys already to his name, and is the top nominee at Thursday's 2023 Latin Grammys ceremony. Unlike most of his contemporaries dominating the music industry, though, Barrera is a producer and songwriter first, recently receiving a songwriter of the year nod for the Grammys in February. He’s also nominated in the brand-new songwriter of the year category of the Latin Grammys, and says he’s proud to be recognized alongside his collaborators and mentors. “Un x100to” is one of the few regional Mexican music songs that have managed to reach the song of the year category at this year's Latin Grammys. Insider Today: Big Tech goes on trial

Speaking of Big Tech, it's a big day for the industry as the DOJ's antitrust trial against Google starts today. It's also a strategy the Department of Justice argues is "anticompetitive and exclusionary" in a landmark trial for Big Tech kicking off today. The trial is the biggest to hit the tech industry since the government sued Microsoft in the late 1990s. AdvertisementAdvertisementMore broadly, the case is a bellwether for how the government could argue future cases against Big Tech companies in the modern era. Each case is unique, but their focus on monopolistic behavior means the Google trial could set precedents followed by both sides.

We compiled a list of 15 of some of the most-followed celebrities and high-profile figures on Twitter who joined Threads, including Katy Perry, Ellen DeGeneres, Bill Gates, Britney Spears, Shakira and Oprah Winfrey. Then we compared their activity on Twitter with their activity on Threads every day since July 5, when Threads was released. CNN —A judge in Barcelona has opened a second investigation into alleged tax fraud by Grammy-winning singer Shakira, a Spanish court said Thursday. Shakira is already awaiting trial for alleged tax evasion of $16.2 million for the years of 2012, 2013 and 2014. The Colombian-born singer, who now lives in Miami, earlier denied the charges of tax fraud relating to the period 2012-2014 through her public relations firmShakira reiterated her innocence on Thursday. In July 2021, a judge at a court near Barcelona ruled that the singer could stand trial for alleged tax evasion.
