The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is warning parents and caregivers not to buy or serve certain pureed fruit pouches marketed to toddlers and young children because the food might contain dangerous levels of lead. Children who have eaten WanaBana apple cinnamon fruit puree pouches should be tested for possible lead poisoning, the agency said. Four children in North Carolina were found to have high levels of lead in their blood linked to the puree products, health officials said. Lead exposure can seriously harm children's health, causing damage to the brain and nervous system and slowed growth and development. There is no known safe level of lead exposure, the AAP said.

On Friday, 117 stores in 30 states will be re-launched showcasing the enhancements, representing investments of more than $500 million, Walmart said in a statement. In total, it plans to modernize more than 1,400 of its 4,717 Walmart stores across the country. As part of those efforts, the company tested some remodeled concept stores called "Stores of the Future" at a few Walmart Supercenters, including Teterboro in New Jersey, earlier this year. Monday's investments mark the national rollout of that concept, a Walmart spokesperson said. The enhanced stores will have refreshed interiors and exteriors, with new paint, updated flooring, modernized restrooms, LED-lighting and new signage for brighter and easier navigation through the stores, the company said.

The company's typical worker is a 39-year-old woman in Dallas earning $18 per hour. She would also work at a Supercenter near Dallas, Texas, where the company told Insider it has the highest density of stores. Her job assignment is most likely to be either a stocker, who refills shelves with merchandise, or a digital picker, who collects orders for online shoppers, the company told Insider. Although she might be demographically "typical," the job she does is anything but, a worker in Illinois told Insider. Walmart told Insider it does not keep track of how many jobs associates have at a time.

REUTERS/Kamil Krzaczynski/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsCompanies Walmart Inc FollowSept 30 (Reuters) - Walmart (WMT.N) corporate staff are getting new titles and pay packages in the coming weeks to manage labor costs and simplify the structure of the company's workforce, the Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday. Starting in November, many corporate workers at Walmart and Sam's Club, its warehouse chain, will be reclassified into fewer groups of possible titles and pay, the report added. Around 4%, or 2,000, will receive an eventual reduction in stock-option awards as part of the change, the report said. The change is "good compensation hygiene," and ensures Walmart is "appropriately rewarding similar levels of work," Lupo said. Earlier this month, Walmart changed the hourly starting wage structure for entry-level store workers.

Costco wants its tech employees to work from the office at least three days a week beginning in January, according to a memo viewed by Insider. Starting January 2, individual contributors and supervisors must work from the office a minimum of three days, managers must work in the office a minimum of four days, and directors and above must work on site full-time, Costco Chief Information Officer Terry Williams told employees in an email. Costco has a similar policy for other corporate employees, but allowed for flexibility for IT employees until now. Another tech challenge for the company is its continued reliance on archaic warehouse management software for inventory management, which several employees have told Insider is a frequent source of frustration. The company doesn't specify how many of those employees are corporate, nor how many work in IT.

Walmart posted surprisingly strong sales growth in the last quarter, while Target reported a decline. As shoppers increasingly prioritize essentials, one in four US grocery dollars are spent at Walmart. When Walmart's grocery sales are combined with those of its subsidiary warehouse club Sam's Club, the total approaches a third of total US grocery spending. Target meanwhile accounts for 3% of grocery dollars, or about a tenth of Walmart Inc., per Numerator.
