Madrid CNN —A fire believed to have been started by a flambéed pizza has killed two people and injured 12 others at a restaurant in the Spanish capital Madrid, city officials said Saturday. “It appears the fire started when a flambéed pizza was being served, which set fire to the decorations in the restaurant,” Madrid Mayor Jose Luis Martinez Almeida told Spain’s state television TVE at the scene on Saturday, hours after the late Friday night blaze. Spanish media reported that a specialty of the restaurant was a pizza in the flambé style - a cooking procedure where spirits are poured on the food and briefly set alight. That was in addition to the two fatalities, said Montse Marcos, a supervisor with the Madrid city ambulance services. The fire was in the Plaza de Manuel Becerra, on the edge of the Spanish capital’s upscale Salamanca neighborhood.

Mexican state oil company Pemex illegally burnt off hydrocarbon resources worth more than $342 million in the three years up to August 2022 at two of its most important new fields, internal documents from the country's oil regulator showed. Burning off gas and condensate - a mixture of liquid hydrocarbons similar to a very light crude oil - has also resulted in extensive environmental damage. There, the documents show Pemex burnt off some 62.9 billion cubic feet of gas and 310,000 barrels of condensate. Missing InfrastructurePemex produced 201.2 billion cubic feet of gas and 24.3 million barrels of condensate from Ixachi.

But persistent inflation and skimpier incomes, coupled with high input costs, will make it a tough year for conscious consumers and the companies that serve them. Take plant-based meat substitutes. They produce 30%-90% fewer emissions than their animal-derived counterparts, but a pound of the stuff costs shoppers twice as much, according to the Good Food Institute, a think tank. The price of U.S. pea protein isolate – a key ingredient in many meat substitutes – rose 10% between April 2021 and November 2022, according to Mintec Benchmark Prices. That would edge meat substitutes closer to their goal of one day costing the same, or less, than their animal-based equivalents.

Youth unemployment is a chronic problem in southern European countries. Greece, whose rates of youth unemployment are similar to Spain's, wants to reduce its youth unemployment rate to 18% by 2030 and is introducing subsidies for pension and health fund costs to reduce labour costs, as well as special training programmes. Previously, employers used temporary contracts as a safety net in times of crisis. Before the labour reform, the rate of temporary contracts, which in the last decade has been around 25% of all jobs, resulted in a high turnover of jobs, inflating the overall unemployment rate.

A software developer found over 137,000 people paid for Twitter Blue, the New York Times reported. The typical Twitter Blue subscriber had 560 followers and many were far-right accounts. Many Twitter Blue subscribers were far-right influencers like Kenosha shooter Kyle Rittenhouse, Libs of TikTok, and Catturd2. Musk's Twitter Blue subscription rollout has been marked by chaos the past month. On Monday, Musk said the Twitter Blue relaunch is on hold till the platform can resolve impersonation issues with "high confidence."

In the three years to the end of 2021, Alphabet, Meta and Snap (SNAP.N) hared ahead. The upshot was the Big Tech groups boasted 2021 revenue of $380 billion, most of which was digital advertising. Evenimentul are ca scop edificarea culturii calității în învățământul superior, cu respectarea riguroasă a standardelor naționale și europene, menite să asigure acreditarea internațională a universităților din Republica Moldova. Reiterăm că Universitatea de Stat din Moldova este instituția coordonatoare a proiectului QFORTE. În acest sens, rectorul USM Igor Șarov și-a exprimat convingerea că proiectul va contribui substanțial la îmbunătățirea acreditărilor instituționale, deoarece alături de universitățile naționale și ANACEC există și susținerea partenerilor din UE. Așteptările participanților acestei reuniuni sunt majore și cu impact semnificativ pentru evoluția învățământului superior național, întrucât va impulsiona angajarea universităților în implementarea reformelor, menite să eficientizeze la maxim sistemul educațional din Republica Moldova.
