The Israeli military says it has established “operational control” over the Philadelphi Corridor, a 14-kilometer (8.7-mile) buffer zone on the Egypt-Gaza border. "In the last few days, Israel established operational control over the Philadelphi Corridor," Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson Daniel Hagari said at a press briefing on Wednesday. The official said the 20 tunnels crossed into Egypt, some of which are new, and Egypt has been informed. Hagari said this route was used to transfer weapons and that the Israeli military found and destroyed weapons there. On Monday, an Egyptian security personnel was killed on the border with Gaza in a shooting that involved Egyptian and Israeli soldiers.

CNN —Elon Musk has sought to accumulate political capital commensurate with his extravagant wealth. Musk has discussed advising Trump should he win the 2024 election, the Journal reported, citing unnamed sources. Musk called Trump directly via cellphone to explore a role that could potentially give Musk significant influence over US policies. Reporting that Musk and Trump’s relationship has improved comes after Musk’s politics have become more aligned with Trump’s. For Musk to have a direct, private line to a future President Trump “would seem to be a blatant conflict of interest,” said Darrell West, a senior fellow in the governance studies program at the Brookings Institution.

But perhaps Pepsi's most memorable disaster (in the US, anyway) was when it was nearly forced to buy a McDonnell Douglas AV-8B Harrier II fighter jet for one of its consumers. He never got it, but the memory of his attempt has long outlived the Pepsi Points campaign. A pile of Liquid Death cans at a festival. We've got three adult children, and two of them have boomeranged after college. I also look at the low interest rates from the pandemic, trying to prop up the economy. Interest rates — people don't want to move out of their homes when they have good interest rates. They don't sell because they know they're going to get into a new mortgage with higher interest rates. We feel like we're blessed that our adult kids want to spend some time with us.

Learn moreFor as long as I've lived in apartment buildings with older plumbing, I've relied on a water filter to make my tap water more palatable. My first choice was one of the best water filter pitchers, as it seemed easy to maintain and a cost-effective alternative to buying bottled water. Berkey Travel Berkey Water Filter System The stand-alone water filtration system uses gravity and activated charcoal filters to remove contaminants and store potable water in the 1.5-gallon lower chamber. If a freestanding filter system is too much of a commitment, consider a smaller countertop system or a filtering pitcher. A new women's basketball league has attracted a star-studded roster of investors from the media and sports world at a time when ratings and general interest in the WNBA and other professional women's leagues is rising. Unrivaled, the pro women's basketball league founded last year by New York Liberty's Breanna Stewart and Minnesota Lynx's Napheesa Collier of the WNBA, said Thursday that it had closed on a seed funding round ahead of its January launch. Athletes will be given equity in the new league, and Unrivaled said it will also feature contract opportunities that will offer the highest average salary in women's pro sports league history. Many female athletes play in other countries when the WNBA season ends to boost their earnings potential. Unrivaled's season will run from January to March and feature 30 of the top women's basketball players across six teams for a 3-on-3, compressed full court style of play on a soundstage in Miami.

CNBC's Investing in Space newsletter offers a view into the business of space exploration and privatization, delivered straight to your inbox. I'd be surprised if most Americans know that there are not one, but two crewed space stations in orbit currently. I'd like to think the International Space Station is common knowledge, but is Tiangong? Tiangong, that second space station in orbit, is built and run by the Chinese. Ideally, NASA also gets more than one space station.

Last year, Gwyneth Paltrow revealed that she eats an anti-inflammatory diet after suffering from long COVID. Eating an anti-inflammatory diet — meaning mostly fresh or minimally processed foods and minimal highly processed foods — can help reduce inflammation, according to the Cleveland Clinic. "Mushrooms contain multiple natural anti-inflammatory compounds, including essential vitamins and minerals, as well as numerous anti-inflammatory metabolites," Kodamala said. "Turmeric contains the active ingredient curcumin, which is an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, making it a real powerhouse to include in your diet," she said. Nuts may also have anti-inflammatory properties, according to a 2023 review, and so might ginger, according to a 2022 review — but more research is needed on both.

Plasma donation pay varies from site to site, but the average payout is typically around $50 per donation. Finland's F/A-18 Hornets — which used to be the US Navy's standard fighter — are already compatible with NATO air forces. This puts several squadrons of stealth fighters on Russia's northern border, with the potential to penetrate and suppress Russian air defenses, and hit vital targets. "Both Finland's and Sweden's proximity allows NATO air forces to stage closer to the Baltics. Similarly, Sweden's Gotland island — located almost midway in the Baltic, about 60 miles from the Swedish mainland and 80 miles from the Baltic States — provides NATO with an advanced outpost. Their air forces are vital for this Nordic push, and will become very useful to further deter and defend the increasingly contested arctic space with Russia."

But at Krasota, a fine-dining restaurant in Dubai, nothing is what it seems. This dish, from the recipe to the wall projection to the deep fake video of Bocuse, was designed by artificial intelligence (AI). It’s one of eight courses in “Imaginary Futures,” a multisensory dining experience at Krasota. For its AI scenario, Krasota’s co-founders — digital artist Anton Nenashev, chef Vladimir Mukhin, and entrepreneur Boris Zarkov — ceded control to technology. “Any technology that interferes with the social aspects of dining will not succeed,” such as headsets or goggles, says Spence.

Exactly who pays for lunar clocks, which type of clocks will go, and where they’ll be positioned are all questions that remain up in the air, Gramling said. The second thing you notice about an Ernie Barnes painting might be its vibrant color scheme. Anchored in earthy reds and browns, it perfectly complements the artist’s virtuosic, almost musical mastery of space and composition. Or it could be the overflowing warmth with which he depicts Black American life that catches your eye. You may also have encountered one of the thousands of posters and prints which, throughout his career, he made available at modest prices. The first thing you notice about an Ernie Barnes painting will be the distinctively sinuous way he renders human beings.

CNN —Badly behaved bachelor and bachelorette partygoers could soon face heavy fines if they overstep the mark in a Spanish resort town. The authorities in the town of Platja d’Aro, on Spain’s Costa Brava and around 60 miles northeast of Barcelona, have introduced fines for anyone daring to go out in public in costumes depicting genitalia or carrying sex dolls. Platja d’Aro has a population of 12,500, but on summer weekends it can draw in around 150,000 visitors a day. The town council this week approved the new fines and said it would hire more police to enforce them. Police will issue a penalty, but alleged offenders could appeal and would not have to pay on the spot, the city hall spokesman said.

There will be no French fries for the 15,000 athletes at the Olympic Games that open in France in July. Yes, you read that right. In what is being called the biggest restaurant in the world — a 700-foot-long former electrical power plant at the heart of the Olympic Village — there will be no foie gras, either, but vegetarian hot dogs and quinoa muesli will abound.
