These are the 2024 top companies in India, according to LinkedIn. LinkedIn has released its eighth annual list of top companies to work for in India, and companies that prioritized its employees' experience and growth dominated this year's ranking. "Whether it's launching upskilling initiatives to accelerate the AI proficiency of their professionals or offering flexible working arrangements, these are the companies leading the way in attracting professionals as well as retaining them in our ever-changing world of work," says Pooja Chhabria, LinkedIn career expert. The ranking is based on eight pillars: the ability to advance, skills growth, company stability, external opportunity, company affinity, gender diversity, educational background, and employee presence in the country. Almost 80% of Singaporeans are optimistic about the economy, according to SurveyMonkey's 2024 poll. The results in Singapore buck the global trend, where less than half the adults polled are positive about where their economy is going. The survey gathered results from over 4,300 adults living across Australia, France, Germany, Mexico, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States between March 8 and 25. That's despite predictions by the International Monetary Fund that the global economy is approaching a "soft landing" and that inflation is slowly moderating.

"There's this tendency in the welfare state to sort of outsource the elderly care," Jan-Emmanuel De Neve, director of the Wellbeing Research Centre at Oxford University told CNBC Make It. Although home-care for the elderly improves their wellbeing, it can also place pressure on younger generations. The so-called sandwich generation refers to middle-aged people who have elderly parents to care for, as well as their own children who are still dependent on them. The younger generations have to support their elderly parents or grandparents. "This would entail defining one's family value system, setting out personal goals, life aspirations, allocating and committing personal resources," Wong suggested.
