Just a few days before this attack, Russian vessels were fighting off drone boats in another incident. "It just seems very strange they didn't respond at all to the incoming drone boats," Clark added. The Russian ship may have assumed it was safe in Novorossiysk, given that the port is roughly 350 miles from the Ukrainian port city of Odessa, but it shouldn't have. CNN —Google was hit with a wide-ranging lawsuit on Tuesday alleging the tech giant scraped data from millions of users without their consent and violated copyright laws in order to train and develop its artificial intelligence products. The complaint also claims Google has taken “virtually the entirety of our digital footprint,” including “creative and copywritten works” to build its AI products. The complaint points to a recent update to Google’s privacy policy that explicitly states the company may use publicly accessible information to train its AI models and tools such as Bard. It is also seeking unspecified damages and payments as financial compensation to people whose data was allegedly misappropriated by Google. Giordano contrasted the benefits and alleged harms of how Google typically indexes online data to support its core search engine with the new allegations of it scraping data to train AI tools.

A Navy system detected what is believed to have been the implosion of the Titan submersible lost touring the Titanic. That system, a naval expert said, is likely the undersea hydrophones of the Integrated Undersea Surveillance System. That system, which was initially just the Sound Surveillance System, has been listening for enemy submarine activity for decades. This system, first constructed in the early 1950s, is called the Sound Surveillance System (SOSUS). Clark said the reporting indicated that the SOSUS hydrophones are likely what detected the final moments of the Titan submersible.

In doing this, the crew has to physically connect the ship's potable water system to its fuel oil system through piping. Aligning the potable water system and the fuel system involves opening valves that are normally locked shut in order to allow the two systems to connect. The fuel system is supposed to be depressurized, and the potable system should be pressurized. "Normally, if you flush out your fuel oil tanks — or your fuel oil system, any part of your fuel oil system — you should be watching for this problem, because you've connected the two systems.
