According to a public billboard seen in an image on social media, French auction house Osenat is planning an Oct. 1 event to sell off “treasures” from the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, a 980-year-old monastery in the Ukrainian capital. The billboard uses the auction house’s logo, Orthodox imagery, and includes the date, time, and description of the alleged event. Reuters also found that the billboard image is fabricated. There is no record of such an event on the Osenat website and the auction house told Reuters it is false.

OTTAWA, July 7 (Reuters) - Canada's economy added far more jobs than expected in June, data showed on Friday, a result analysts said probably seals the deal for another Bank of Canada (BoC) interest rate hike next week. The unemployment rate in June increased for the second consecutive month and is now at its highest level since February 2022, though still below a pre-pandemic 12-month average, Statscan said. The June jobs report is the last major economic figure to be released before the BoC's rate announcement on Wednesday. Growth has remained resilient despite nine rate increases totaling 450 basis points since March of last year. The net jobs addition in June, the largest since January, were driven by full-time work.

A video of a fire engulfing a high-rise residential building in Ajman, United Arab Emirates, is being falsely shared online as if it’s a tower set ablaze in France. Violent riots gripped France following the fatal police shooting of a teenager of north African descent on June 27, Reuters reported (here), (here). Google Street View images show that Tower 2 of the Ajman One complex was the building on fire (shorturl.ac/7ap2e). The official Ajman Police Twitter account shared another video showing the fire being extinguished (here). The video shows a residential building in UAE on fire.

It’s captioned: “A group of NATO mercenaries in British uniforms were captured yesterday in Zaporozhye region, Russia. It’s also not unusual for Ukrainian soldiers to be seen in British military gear. Reuters also reported in 2022 that Ukrainian fighters were purchasing British military surplus here. The photo dates to May 2022 and shows Ukrainian prisoners of war.
