Read previewFaced with higher rates and a daunting fundraising climate, hedge funds are wooing investors with a seemingly antithetical pitch: index investing with a twist. Hedge fund industry insiders are abuzz right now about "portable alpha," a blast-from-the-past strategy that's undergoing a revival. According to the Morgan Stanley white paper, it can take on a variety of forms, including "dedicated portable alpha funds, portable alpha share classes, portable alpha feeder funds and other solutions." Advertisement"It's a nice way of smuggling hedge funds into your portfolio if you're an allocator," said Jon Caplis, CEO of hedge fund research firm PivotalPath. He said much of the industry still hasn't woken up to the appetite for portable alpha solutions and the potential boon to hedge funds.

"A big tech stock reckoning and correction is inevitable," the chief investment officer told CNBC's " Street Signs Asia " on Tuesday. Calling the euphoria around Big Tech stocks this year "absurd," he said that such excessive investor sentiment and "overdone" momentum "always ends the same." "The biggest risk for the stock market right now is excessive valuations. Such sectors include health care, consumer staples, utilities, and the midstream part of the energy sector, according to him. "The consumers staples sector is being overlooked right now in the market as investors chase returns in the tech sector," he added.

So far, most of the AI winners have been confined to players further up the value chain, such as data center providers and semiconductor chip producers at the backbone of AI technology. As the buildout phase of AI matures, investors are looking further down the value chain for monetization opportunities, whether it be for consumers or businesses. Ayako Yoshioka, senior portfolio manager at Wealth Enhancement Group, sees three parts of the market that could see profit enhancements from the adoption of AI. 3 non-tech AI opportunitiesThere's significant potential for the healthcare sector to reap the benefits of AI. No matter the form, adversity requires mental toughness and self-reassurance to overcome it successfully. Mentally resilient people take a different approach, according to Brooklyn, New York-based executive coach Jason Shen. "Staying connected to people you care about seems to get harder with each passing year," Shen wrote. "Emotional resilience is associated with grit and mental toughness. There is an understanding that we have to be strong and overcome adversity without letting it break us," Warren wrote for Make It last year.

I still use social media, though I typically schedule content ahead of time and log out after posting.

In my early 30s, I was the caregiver for my wife, who was dealing with chronic pain and other health issues. It was all-encompassing and there wasn't a lot of time to have outside social interactions. Luckily, you don't need to see your friends every day to reap the benefits of social interactions. Maybe you open the door to a deeper relationship, but even if you don't, you'll feel better. Over time, you're going to connect with people and naturally become vulnerable unless you're really fighting it.
