The Israeli military said it was targeting senior leaders of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, a U.S.-designated terrorist group that Israel blames for recent cross-border rocket fire, coordinating militant activities in the occupied West Bank and acquiring money and guns.
The Israeli military called the strikes part of a new operation against Islamic Jihad, adding to its yearlong operation against Palestinian militants in the West Bank.
