Given a second chance to resuscitate his young career, Bryce Young produced something equally as rare during Week 9 of the NFL season — a victory for the Carolina Panthers. 1 overall pick of the 2023 NFL draft, who was benched earlier this season after just 18 career starts, led Carolina on a game-winning drive to beat New Orleans 23-22. After the Panthers took over with 3:26 left in the fourth quarter trailing 22-17, Young threw a pair of incompletions before he found Xavier Legette for 26 yards. On the next play, Young threw the ball high downfield, inducing a pass interference penalty that moved the ball 16 yards from the end zone. Less common is the benched starter who returns to earn full favor within an organization that had lost enough confidence to initially sit him.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott left Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons in the fourth quarter with a hamstring injury. Prescott has struggled so far this season, throwing for 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions through Sunday’s game. His 84.5 passer rating through seven games is the worst mark of his career, as is his quarterback rating of 47.5. In his career before Sunday, Rush completed 60.8% of his passes for 1,671 yards with eight touchdowns and six interceptions. The Cowboys, who are in third place in the NFC East, play their divisional rival Philadelphia Eagles in Week 10.

Donald Trump and Kamala Harris' differing styles were on full display during dueling rallies Friday night in Milwaukee, the largest city in one of the nation’s most important swing states. Early in his speech, Trump gave a shout-out to Milwaukee Bucks’ star player, Giannis Antetokounmpo, who was born in Greece. As Trump has stoked new controversy with his recent comments about Republican former Rep. Liz Cheney, Harris again emphasized that she would listen to people who disagree with her. Yet this season he is on pace to produce marks in passer rating, air yards per attempt, yards per passing attempt, quarterback rating, passing yards and interceptions that are better than in either of his previous MVP campaigns, in 2019 and 2023. Goff has been a model of efficiency, completing 74.1% of his passes while posting career bests in yards per attempt and passer rating. While other NFC contenders have struggled, Detroit looks arguably better than a season ago. By rushing for a league-leading 946 yards on 6.5 yards per carry — an incredible 1.1 yards more per rush than he averaged in that historic 2020 season — he’s taken pressure off of Jackson. That not only explains the play, but what Daniels has brought to a Commanders team that won’t go away.
