LAGOS, Feb 11 (Reuters) - Nigerian presidential contender Peter Obi of the opposition Labour Party said his supporters were on Saturday attacked and injured ahead of a rally in the commercial capital Lagos, a stronghold of the ruling party. Previous elections in Africa's most populous nation have been fraught with violence between supporters of rival parties and a number of instances of political violence have occurred ahead of the Feb. 25 parliamentary and presidential vote. "We cannot continue to tolerate attacks on members of the political opposition, often fuelled by the incendiary rhetoric of political leaders," Obi said in a statement, urging police to investigate. At the rally, Obi told supporters he would reform the police to make it more professional, end the oil thefts that have hobbled production in the Niger Delta, and improve security to allow farmers to boost agriculture output. Obi will face Bola Tinubu, the former governor of Lagos and the ruling All Progressives Congress candidate, and former vice president Atiku Abubakar from the main opposition People's Democratic Party.

SINGAPORE, Jan 6 (Reuters) - Crypto exchange Huobi plans to lay off about 20% of its staff, Tron founder Justin Sun told Reuters. In an internal memo to Huobi staff , Sun said Huobi has been like "a fire in the (crypto) winter" despite the deteriorating macro environment. Cryptocurrency firm Genesis just cut 30% of its workforce in a second round of layoffs in less than six months. It was not immediately clear how many staff Huobi currently has. As per CoinMarketCap, the Huobi token peaked at $9.40 in late October, with a 24-hour volume then of $52.5 million.

Digital currency exchange Huobi on Friday reportedly said it plans to reduce its global headcount by about 20%, in the latest round of layoffs to hit the beleaguered cryptocurrency industry. A company spokesperson told news agency Reuters that Huobi had a "planned layoff ratio" of about 20%. Bloomberg and the Financial Times also reported on the layoff plans Friday. "With the current state of the bear market, a very lean team will be maintained going forward," the Huobi spokesperson told Reuters. Huobi had about 1,600 employees worldwide as of October, according to a Financial Times report.

LONDON, Nov 30 (Reuters) - FTX's venture capital arm has assets that could be worth investing in, but since the failed crypto exchange has entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings the process could take time, cryptocurrency entrepreneur Justin Sun said on Wednesday. "FTX Ventures still has lots of portfolio (companies) and we are going through them one by one, but right now it is already in the Chapter 11 process so it might take a longer time to finish the process," Sun told a Reuters Next conference. Sun founded the crypto platform Tron and is member of cryptoexchange Huobi's global advisory board. He did not specify which organisation specifically was looking at the assets in the interview. Nov 5 (Reuters) - Kenya Airways PLC (KQNA.NR) said it was experiencing disruptions to its flight schedule after its pilot union began a strike on Saturday, despite the government urging them to call it off. The pilots union had said earlier it would call a strike over a dispute on pensions contributions and settlement of deferred pay for its members after a 14-day notice had passed without the airline's management addressing their grievances. The airline had described the planned strike as unlawful and warned that it could jeopardise its recovery from the pandemic, and the airline could at a minimum lose 300 million shillings ($2.5 million) a day. In last-minute talks to avert a strike, Transport Minister Kipchumba Murkomen had issued a plea to the pilots union not to go ahead with the industrial action.
