There appears to be an economic rebound taking place — and history shows ways to play it in the market, according to Bank of America. "It's official: we're in a Recovery," wrote strategist Savita Subramanian in a note to clients Sunday. An average recovery lasts nine months, though shorter durations seen in recent history raise concern that this one may not have staying power, she said. Still, the average analyst has a hold rating on the stock, according to LSEG. The average analyst has a hold rating on the stock, but price targets imply an upside of more than 7% on average.

Coach Ian Foster has selected the same backline that helped beat the Springboks 35-20 during the Rugby Championship in Auckland last month. Foster is keen to give his team a good run ahead of their World Cup opener against France in Paris on Sept. 8 and this presents an excellent opportunity to do so against the old enemy and reigning world champions. "This is our final game before the Rugby World Cup and this test is critical in our preparation," Foster said. "With just two weeks to go, it’s an important opportunity to get us battle-ready for the start of the tournament. "These games (against South Africa) are always intense and physically challenging, and I’m sure this one will be no different."

Aug 13 (Reuters) - A Kansas newspaper that was searched by police said its 98-year-old co-owner died on Saturday from stress related to the incident, which free press advocates condemned as a possible violation of the Marion County Record's First Amendment rights. "Stressed beyond her limits and overwhelmed by hours of shock and grief after illegal police raids on her home and the Marion County Record newspaper office Friday, 98-year-old newspaper co-owner Joan Meyer, otherwise in good health for her age, collapsed Saturday afternoon and died at her home," the paper reported. Marion County Police also searched the newspaper office on Friday, seizing personal cell phones, computers and the newspaper server, among other equipment, the Record said. On Saturday, he issued a statement justifying the search of the newspaper. The Kansas Press Association described the search as "unprecedented" and "an assault on the very foundation of democracy."

The Marion County Record’s co-owner and publisher, Eric Meyer, believes Friday’s raid was prompted by a story published Wednesday about a local business owner. Authorities countered they are investigating what they called “identity theft” and “unlawful acts concerning computers,” according to a search warrant. Computers, cell phones, and other materials were seized during the raid at the Marion County Record, Meyer confirmed to CNN. Newell told CNN the Marion County Record unlawfully used her credentials to get information that was available only to law enforcement, private investigators and insurance agencies. Chief Cody was not able to provide details on Friday’s raid, saying it remains an ongoing criminal investigation – but offered a justification.

Around the same time, Rosler began exploring video, which was then becoming popular among feminist artists as an affordable way to make and share work without the institutional support that was often denied them. This resulted in another of her best-known works, “Semiotics of the Kitchen” (1975). As her actions become increasingly violent — Rosler uses a manual juicer like she’s breaking a neck — the hostess’s rage takes on broader significance. “The fact that video sucked was part of what made it exciting,” Rosler told me; it allowed her to make work that no one would judge on its aesthetic qualities. It’s possible, even, to find echoes of Rosler in the amateur videography of TikTok, where every user is the head of their own surreal public access network.

Specifically, the central bank said it would offer to buy 10-year JGBs at 1.0% in fixed-rate operations, instead of the previous rate of 0.5% - tolerating the wider band for bond market borrowing rates. With July core inflation in Tokyo falling back to a 10-month low, the need for tightening may be ebbing anyway. Friday's data is expected to show another drop in the Fed's favoured core PCE inflation gauge in June. For markets more broadly, Friday seems a little scattergun so far after a heavy week of macro policy and corporate news. U.S. Treasury yields fell back from two-week highs hit after the punchy U.S. economy readouts and central bank moves, with the 2-to-10 year yield curve steepening as recession fears abate.

Officials have not said what caused the fire, and there have been no reports of injuries or deaths. Chicago's Bronzeville neighborhood has a microgrid, which can operate independently if necessary. A microgrid, a smaller version of the city's electrical power grid, went live last year in the iconic South Side neighborhood of Bronzeville. It's this kind of energy reform, said William Davis, the executive director of the Bronzeville Community Development Partnership, that should "start in the hardest-hit areas." Solar panels on several neighborhood buildings are also contributing power to the microgrid, integrating the zero-carbon energy into Chicago's grid system. Together, the microgrid and energy initiatives represent progress in a community that might have otherwise been overlooked, Davis said.

In an update Friday, the National Weather Service said heat is building along the West Coast and is expected to bring hot and dry conditions to much of California this weekend. Across the central Plains and into the South, which have been baked by high temperatures for days, the heat is expected to persist. Texas, which has been sweltering under an intense, early-season heat wave for the past three weeks, is expected to cool slightly from triple-digit temperatures. As the ongoing heat dome expands deeper into the South, high heat and humidity are expected to blanket parts of Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Tennessee, Mississippi and Alabama through the weekend. Thousands of flights have been disrupted or canceled since Wednesday, adding strain to what is anticipated to be a busy travel weekend.
