Vinicius Jr 'back to his best,' says Real Madrid boss Ancelotti
  + stars: | 2023-10-25 | by ( ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +1 min
Oct 25 (Reuters) - Vinicius Jr has returned to his best form after the winger produced a fine performance to help Real Madrid claim a 2-1 Champions League win over Sporting Braga, manager Carlo Ancelotti said on Tuesday. He got the goal, which was ruled out by the narrowest of margins, and he made two assists for Rodrygo and Bellingham," Ancelotti told reporters. "They (Bellingham and Vinicius Jr) work really well together with the ball and without it. Real Madrid, the record 14-time Champions League winners who lead in the LaLiga with 25 points after 10 matches, play arch-rivals Barcelona on Saturday. "After this game, we know exactly what we need to do — everything we can to win it," Ancelotti said.

Oct 25 (Reuters) - Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta heaped praise on Gabriel Jesus after the forward led the north London side to a 2-1 Champions League victory over Sevilla on Tuesday. The 26-year-old Brazil international scored a goal and provided an assist to compatriot Gabriel Martinelli, taking Arsenal to the top of Group B at the midway point of the pool stage. Jesus, who has now netted 23 times in 41 appearances in Europe's elite club competition, joined Arsenal after five seasons at fellow Premier League side Manchester City in July last year. He's brought so much belief and energy to the team, and he needs to step into those moments. "That's when a player becomes accountable to the team, and the team relies on those players to win games.

The trio had played key roles at the Ryder Cup over the years. Poulter played at seven Ryder Cups and helped Europe win five of them, with his huge performances earning him the nickname 'The Postman' as he always delivered at the event. "They've had unbelievable Ryder Cup careers and they've made their choices, and they've done what they've done and no one can take away the impact they've had for the European team over the years," the 34-year-old McIlroy said. "But I feel like this week, not having those big personalities in the team room let other guys have that chance to flourish and to shine: Viktor (Hovland), Jon (Rahm), myself. "There wasn't a ton of space taken up in that room by some of the other big personalities, and I think that just let the rest of the team just sort of flourish.

Sept 14 (Reuters) - English third-tier side Reading have been deducted three points after failing to deposit enough funds to cover the club's monthly wage bill, the English Football League (EFL) said on Wednesday.
