Ruben Gallego, had a strong fundraising quarter by contrast. And in Pennsylvania, Democratic Sen. Bob Casey raised $3.2 million and had nearly $7.4 million on hand for another top race. “With President Trump back in office, Israel, and everyone else, will be safe again!” he said. Trump’s original grievance-based analysis reflects a transactional, unorthodox approach to foreign policy that often prioritizes his own personal goals over a standard understanding of the national interest. Trump’s comments were not the first time he has appeared to seek a political benefit from his foreign policy and his positions on Israel especially. They also show Trump’s quintessential contempt for the rules of politics, foreign policy and even basic human decency, which explain why he horrifies many Americans and foreign governments. “He’s simply not expressing, and his imitators in his primary, are not expressing the same muscular American foreign policy that we lived out every day,” Pence said on a local New Hampshire radio.

CNN —An inspiration for Walt Disney’s imagination for the Sleeping Beauty castle, Germany’s Neuschwanstein Castle is a go-to tourist destination for around 1.4 million people per year. However, in September, Manow’s two worlds collided as the 34-year-old became the first person to detach from a paraglider mid-air and fly past Neuschwanstein Castle wearing just a wingsuit. The German performed a 328-foot free fall before whistling by the castle, reaching a top speed of 124 mph. As well as taking various practice flights, the skydiver also built a special paragliding harness into his wingsuit to safely release himself. How to cook mussels at home

How to prepare musselsRemember that mussels are alive until you cook them, and they need to stay alive and breathing until they’re ready to hit the pan. If you won’t be cooking and eating your mussels immediately, use the colander method as noted above to store the mussels until you’re ready to use them. How to cook musselsUnlike oysters, which take a bit of practice and skill to shuck, it’s simple to steam mussels. Add the cleaned mussels, cover the pot and cook for about 8-10 minutes until all the mussels have opened. • Mussels in tomato-garlic broth• Spanish mussels with hard chorizo and cream• Beer-steamed mussels• White wine and olive oil-steamed mussels• Mussels in coconut milkCasey Barber is a food writer, artist and editor of the website Good Food Stories.

LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Republican Mike Rogers, who served in Congress for 14 years and chaired the House Intelligence Committee, is running for an open U.S. Senate seat in Michigan that Democrats have held for over two decades. The announcement, which was provided to The Associated Press in a campaign video on Wednesday, instantly shakes up a Senate race that had been relatively quiet and dominated by Democratic candidates. It's seen as a recruiting victory for Michigan Republicans, who have struggled to win statewide races with a state party in turmoil. The GOP has not won a Michigan U.S. Senate race since 1994. Defending the Michigan seat may prove crucial for Democrats, who face tough headwinds as they defend seats in Republican-leaning states from West Virginia to Montana and Ohio.

What People Misunderstand About Rape

She suggested that if investigators were really going to help victims, then they should understand the brain science behind common victim responses. He has designed and led courses and training for the police and prosecutors, campus investigators and administrators and major organizations like the U.S. military, End Violence Against Women International and the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network. The point is not to teach them to diagnose but rather to help people who interact with rape victims understand their biases. In her training, Oglesby describes a case she rejected because she couldn’t make sense of the account. Appalachia is a region and a mind-set. Appalachia has few large cities, our economies are land-based and, unless you live here, we’re probably not what you think. It’s “Appal-achia.” As in, “If you keep that up, I’ll throw this apple atcha.” But in fact, we won’t. We tend toward heart-blessing kindness in the way of small-town folks who rely on each other in good times and bad, and live together regardless. The awards show, as with much in the TV and movie industry, is also very much uncertain right now. But what you can count on is more reality shows, and maybe game shows, and probably more opportunity to binge shows that have already been on your favorite streaming service. Data from film permits in California indicates that production of most shows and movies already has been halted by the writers strike. But most other actors will stop working as soon as the union’s government board votes to go on strike later Thursday. Of course, the writers strike brought an immediate halt to new episodes of US late night shows, so the opportunity to do that sort of publicity was already limited.

Our attention spans have shrunk over the last half century. Consider Michael Snow’s “Wavelength” (1967), a rigorous 45-minute film made by the Canadian artist that stands as a monument of experimental cinema. Snow understood what he was up against: In 2003 he made a video called “WVLNT: WAVELENGTH for Those Who Don’t Have the Time: Originally 45 Minutes, Now 15!” It wasn’t merely a joke or a concession. Knowing that people were choosing to watch his film digitally sped-up, Snow used the occasion to create a brand-new work, superimposing 15-minute segments of the original onto one another like gauzy layers of celluloid film. What really fascinated him was the question of how we see, hear and perceive reality and how art, language and technology continue to shape this experience.

It’s certainly pretty to look at, but what’s behind the natural phenomenon that’s nicknamed “watermelon snow”? The species of algae causing the colorful Utah snow is called Chlamydomonas nivalis. That bloom is a sign of the algae’s reproductive stage, during which there’s a secondary pigment that’s created which darkens the algae’s cells, according to Hotaling. This pigment acts as a blocker of ultraviolet rays that protect the algae’s cells from solar radiation. There are no human health concerns for water quality and for anyone who comes into contact with the watermelon snow, according to Hotaling.

How many miles will AAdvantage members earn? Remember, too, that the American AAdvantage program offers several other programs that let members rack up more miles without even flying, including American AAdvantage eShopping and the AAdvantage dining program. The lowest tier of elite status with American, AAdvantage Gold, requires you to earn 40,000 Loyalty Points in a status year. Meanwhile, when it comes to earning redeemable miles, the easiest way to do so quickly is through the several co-branded airline credit cards that earn American AAdvantage miles.

NOAA Forecasters See a Respite for California
  + stars: | 2023-04-20 | by ( Raymond Zhong | ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: +1 min
The NewsWeather forecasters with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration on Thursday issued their latest outlook for the United States, and there’s at least one piece of hopeful news for a state that has already had a wild year, weather-wise: California. But according to NOAA’s latest forecasts, temperatures for May through July are highly likely to be in line with historical averages across California and Nevada. For May, much of California could even see cooler-than-normal conditions, the agency said. This could mean the snow’s melting would be more gradual than abrupt, more beneficial to water supplies than destructive to homes and farms. “The picture is relatively optimistic compared to what it could be,” said Andrew Schwartz, lead scientist at the Central Sierra Snow Laboratory, part of the University of California, Berkeley.

The eight-year-old startup cut 14% of its workforce last year and now has over 1,000 employees, according to Mr. McKay.
The Democrats’ 2024 Senate map was already going to be tough, and it got a little bit harder now that Michigan Democratic Sen. Debbie Stabenow announced Thursday she would not run for re-election. Michigan is one of the five states President Biden won in 2020 by less than 4 percentage points where the Democrats currently have a seat up for re-election next year. And there are three more Democratic seats up in 2024 in states that Trump won. In other 2024 news:Gallego makes more moves: Arizona Democratic Rep. Ruben Gallego is making high-profile hires as he considers a Senate bid, Politico reports. Chris Sununu told Fox News “a lot of folks” want him to run for president and took a swipe at Florida Republican Gov.
