The U.S. Department of Commerce, China Electronics Corporation and China Electronics Technology Group Corporation did not return requests for comment. Despite heavy spending on domestic substitution, however, foreign firms are still dominant suppliers for banking and telecoms database management. Non-Chinese companies held 90% of market share for banking database systems at the end of 2022, according to EqualOcean, a tech consultancy.

Israel is escalating its bombardment of targets in the Gaza Strip ahead of an expected ground invasion against Hamas militants. More than 1,400 people in Israel have been killed, mostly civilians who died in the initial Hamas rampage. In addition, 222 people including foreigners were believed captured by Hamas during the incursion and taken into Gaza, Israel's military has said. UNRWA said it found shrapnel in its facilities in the Bureij camp and in Nuseirat in central Gaza from Israel’s bombardment of nearby areas Sunday. Israel said Monday it struck 320 militant targets throughout the besieged Gaza Strip over the last 24 hours.

Despite the tailwinds, some emerging managers are defying the slump and raising new funds. Duke said it expects about $259 million of proceeds from this sale, which the company would use to help incorporate more than 30,000 megawatts of regulated renewable energy into its system by 2035. Electric utilities in the United States are streamlining their operations to shift away from fossil fuels toward cleaner energy sources, including solar and wind, to meet climate goals. Its population grew to a peak of about 800 inmates before it started to shrink. The comments by the independent expert add to recent criticism from the Red Cross and another UN body.

April 12 (Reuters) - U.S. industrial conglomerate Emerson Electric Co (EMR.N) said on Wednesday it will buy measurement tools maker NI Corp (NATI.O) for $8.2 billion in a bid to boost its automation capabilities. The purchase will allow Emerson to tap NI's software-connected automated test and measurement systems for higher growth and margins in its automation portfolio. Emerson has executed a string of deals over the last few years to streamline itself into an industrial automation provider. The NI deal is expected to close in the first half of Emerson's fiscal 2024. Goldman Sachs & Co LLC and Centerview Partners LLC were financial advisers to Emerson on the deal, while Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP was its legal adviser.

Emerson has executed a string of deals over the last few years to streamline itself into an industrial automation provider. The NI deal is expected to close in the first half of Emerson's fiscal 2024. Shares of Emerson, which already owns an about 2% stake in NI, fell more than 2% to $82.55 in premarket trade. NI launched a formal sale process in January after Emerson threatened to challenge its board if it did not engage in deal negotiations.
