New York CNN —TikTok’s global trust and safety unit is getting a new leader, the company confirmed on Tuesday. Following Keenan’s move, TikTok’s global trust and safety unit will now fall under the leadership of Adam Presser, the company’s Los Angeles-based head of operations. However, TikTok’s trust and safety staff will otherwise remain in place as-is, according to the company. The leadership changes come as TikTok continues to face scrutiny in the United States, Europe and elsewhere over the safety and security of its platform. TikTok plans to invest $2 billion in trust and safety efforts in 2024, Chew said during the hearing.

Things were going well for Cody Fry, a singer-songwriter and producer known for his lush pop songs. And on Monday his management team called him with exciting news: One of his songs, “Things You Said,” a romantic duet with Abby Cates, was gaining TikTok traction in China. More than 750,000 videos were created with that song in a single day, Mr. Fry said in a TikTok video. The sudden TikTok silence came about after Universal Music Group, the world’s largest music company, pulled its catalog from TikTok after its contract with the platform expired. Despite what its marketing might suggest, “Mean Girls” (in theaters), the latest in a set of pink-accented nesting dolls, is irrefutably a movie musical. Adapted from the 2018 Broadway musical, which was itself based on the 2004 film, which was in turn inspired by the 2002 nonfiction book “Queen Bees and Wannabes,” this new version has singing. It has one delectable moment in which the members of the school marching band raise their saxophones and tubas high. Barring a split-second shot of the band, you wouldn’t know that from the film’s trailers. It was made to look instead like a vaguely edgier remix of the 2004 film.

The Cboe Volatility Index , commonly referred to simply as "the VIX", is an index derived from 30-day S & P 500 index options prices. Put simply, the VIX represents the options market's expectations for S & P 500 volatility over the next 30 days. Sometimes referred to as a "fear index", Friday's VIX Index closing level of 19.32 is only slightly below the 6-month high of 20.09 seen on May 4th. Financials significantly outperformed, finishing Friday up 0.2% while the S & P overall fell by 0.5%. Options traders and strategists are often asked, "Is there a way to use options to hedge my portfolio?".
