Man City beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 despite Rodri red card
  + stars: | 2023-09-23 | by ( ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +2 min
MANCHESTER, England, Sept 23 (Reuters) - Manchester City maintained their perfect start to the Premier League season with a 2-0 home win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday, making it six wins out of six despite losing midfielder Rodri to a red card early in the second half. In all, referee Anthony Taylor doled out 11 yellow cards along with Rodri's red, with seven of the yellows coming in a bad-tempered second half as Forest tried to leverage their extra man, but to no avail. I think the first half was brilliant apart from the last 10 (minutes), I think they found us out a little," Foden said. "The second half was not what we expected because Rodri got a red card quite early... it wasn't ideal, but we showed a different side to us today to dig in, and I'm proud of the team." Man City make it perfect six, Everton get first win

Everton registered their first league victory of the season, producing an impressive display to win 3-1 at Brentford whose home struggles continued. "We played, I would say, 51, 52 minutes 10 against 11, so it was not easy, but we were fantastic," City manager Pep Guardiola said. Everton's James Tarkowski scored against his former club in a well-deserved 3-1 win at Brentford's Community Stadium. Victory lifted Everton out of the relegation zone and up to 15th with four points, with Brentford, without a home win this season, 12th on six. It secured Luton's first point in the top flight since April 1992 and they might have been celebrating a win.

According to Goldman's chief economist, Jan Hatzius, some 25% of all US workers work from home at least part of the week. So, which Wall Street firms are still letting employees work from home at least part of the time? On days employees are in, the firm focuses on taking "advantage of our shared location," it reads. Fernandes seals comeback win for Man Utd over Forest
  + stars: | 2023-08-26 | by ( ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +3 min
Christian Eriksen began the comeback after 17 minutes when he touched in Marcus Rashford's cross but for all United's pressure, Forest still packed a substantial threat. But they responded in determined fashion to win a Premier League game at Old Trafford from two goals down for only the third time. In doing so Awoniyi became the first Forest player to score in seven successive Premier League appearances. Rashford dinked in a free kick and Fernandes headed the ball across to Casemiro who made up for missing an earlier sitter. Almost inevitably, Fernandes supplied the winner, although it was tough on Forest who had chances to grab a point in 13 nervous minutes of stoppage time.

For some, the answer to exuberant markets lies in the ample cash still sloshing around the financial system. Total global liquidity, a measure of cash and credit in the world economy, has risen to almost $170 trillion in June, Crossborder calculates, from $158 trillion in October. Central banks have added a net $1.7 trillion into money markets since November, it also estimates, a move that correlates with a risk-taking trend. But an alternative scenario is that U.S. money market funds, stuffed with cash after depositors fled regional banks in March, buy enough newly issued Treasuries to keep rates stable. "Liquidity is not a force that reverberates immediately into financial markets," said JPMorgan global market strategist Nikolaos Panigirtzoglou.

JP Morgan CEO Jamie Dimon looks on during the inauguration of the new French headquarters of US' JP Morgan bank on June 29, 2021 in Paris. JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon testified last week that top bank executive Mary Erdoes and the firm's then-head lawyer had the authority to boot sex predator Jeffrey Epstein as a customer well before Erdoes finally took that step in 2013. During his deposition, Dimon was shown an email that JPMorgan's then-general counsel Cutler Cutler sent Erdoes about Epstein on July 21, 2011. In that email, Cutler wrote: "I would like to put it and him behind us. Cutler, in his own deposition last week, "testified under oath that Jes Staley and Mary Erdoes made the decision to retain Epstein as a customer of the bank," a lawyer told Dimon.

JPMorgan Chase raised a key performance target on the heels of its government-brokered takeover of First Republic earlier this month. The bank will generate about $84 billion in net interest income this year, the New York-based bank said Monday in slides for an all-day investor presentation. At the time, JPMorgan raised its net interest income outlook by $7 billion, a move that spurred JPMorgan's biggest earnings-day stock bump in 20 years. Net interest income is the difference between what banks earn from loans and investments and what they pay to depositors. Longtime JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon is expected to speak in a question-and-answer session at the investor day this afternoon.

LIVERPOOL, England, April 22 (Reuters) - Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah were on target as Liverpool edged Premier League strugglers Nottingham Forest 3-2 in a riveting clash at Anfield on Saturday to climb to seventh in the table. Jota restored Liverpool's lead with a sharp finish on the turn in the 55th minute but Liverpool were pegged back again when Virgil Van Dijk's clearing header fell to an unmarked Gibbs-White. Both Forest goals came from long throw-ins and Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp was pleased with the result but frustrated by his side's shaky defensive performance against a team who have the second-worst attacking record in the league. Liverpool sealed the win three minutes after Forest's second when Trent Alexander-Arnold picked out Salah with a low free kick and the Egyptian striker held off Remo Freuler before side-footing past Keylor Navas. Steve Cooper set up Forest with a flat back five, looking to contain Liverpool, and the strategy worked in the first half, though the visitors rode their luck at times.
German specialised property lenders such as Aareal Bank (ARLG.DE), Deutsche Pfandbriefbank (PBBG.DE) and Berlin Hyp, have a bigger concentration of real estate exposure, analysts added. Blackstone (BX.N) recently blocked withdrawals from its $70 billion real estate income trust after facing a flurry of redemption requests. Open-ended real estate funds in Britain have also battled to meet strong demand for redemptions. In Europe, CRE exposure for smaller banks, more at risk of deposit flight, is estimated at under 30% of all loans, Capital Economics said. "On the other, real estate owners themselves are going to face quite material increase in costs."
