Dorin Chirtoacă: Moldova’s fate is indeed decided today“The fate of the Republic of Moldova is indeed decided today. Dorin Chirtoacă said that members of the electoral bureau of the polling station where he voted told him that no person got COVID-19 there after the first round. The politician noted the people should not be afraid of the alleged clashes as those reports of the last two weeks were misleading and those lies can be stopped by taking part in voting. In the runoff vote, the elections are declared valid regardless of the voter turnout. If both of the candidates get the same score, the candidate who gained more votes in the first round emerges victorious.

Moldovans in Italy need self-certification form to voteThe Moldovan citizens who will go to vote in the presidential runoff on November 15 at the polling stations established in Italy must have a self-certification form on them. They will be allowed access to the polling station in areas with restricted movement – red zone and orange zone - only based on such a document, IPN reports. Moldova’s Embassy in Italy said the standard self-certification form must contain the personal data, while in the division “situazione di necesita” there should be written “voto Elezioni Presidenziali Moldova-15 novembre” (voting in presidential elections Moldova – November 15). The correctly filled out form is the only document that will allow movement on the election day and the Embassy recommends the Moldovans to make sure that they have such a form. The Moldovans in Italy can vote at one of the 30 polling stations established there for the presidential elections.

Vlad Țurcanu about risks faced by candidates in runoff vote

Indirectly, this could help Maia Sandu, communication expert Vlad Țurcanu stated in IPN’s public debate “Strong and weak points of the two finalists”. Vlad Țurcanu said that even if Igor Dodon has experience to resist such attacks, it is not easy for him to do this. Society in Moldova, which is dependent on foreign assistance, including mentally, realizes that Maia Sandu is the political figure who can attract funds to Moldova. Vlad Țurcanu noted Moldovan society believes that the voters of the right, the pro-European ones are more active between elections and are sometimes absent from elections. Without this support, Igor Dodon seems vulnerable,” concluded Vlad Țurcanu.

Moldova’s crisis has regional and transatlantic implications, Bucharest expertWhile Moldova is not new to political deadlock and infighting, what happened this weekend has regional and transatlantic implications, writes Alina Inayeh, director of the German Marshall Fund/Black Sea Trust in Bucharest, in an opinion piece. However, thinks the expert, Russia’s cooperation with the United States and the EU in this case should not be mistaken for realignment, or for the beginning of a new partnership. (...) Cooperation in Moldova hands Russia a chip it will eventually use in its interest”. According to the expert, Russia’s support for the ACUM-Socialists government also signals to regimes in the region that playing the transatlantic community against Moscow is no longer an option. In 2017, Black Sea Trust was blacklisted as an undesirable organization in Russia.
