WASHINGTON (AP) — Nearly 10 years after it was first imagined as an opera, “Grounded” is ready to take flight. With music by Jeanine Tesori and a libretto adapted by George Brant from his own play, “Grounded” tells the story of an F-16 fighter pilot who becomes pregnant and leaves the service. The opera has its world premiere at the Washington National Opera on Saturday, with performances continuing through Nov. 13. And next fall it will open the season at the Metropolitan Opera, which commissioned the work. “It’s not a story about, Oh it’s really hard to be a woman in a man’s world,” Cremo said.

Storms, floods, fires and other extreme weather events led to more than 43 million displacements involving children between 2016 and 2021, according to a United Nations report. But while catastrophes intensify, the world has yet to recognize climate migrants and find formal ways of protecting them. Westchester's district attorney shut down its criminal investigation into the Trump Organization this month. The district attorney's office in Westchester — a county north of New York City — opened the investigation two years ago. In April, the district attorney brought another set of charges against Trump himself, alleging he broke the law by disguising hush-money payments to Stormy Daniels. Alan Futerfas, an attorney representing the Trump Organization, declined to comment on the closure of the Westchester County investigation.
