Deere (DE) , headquartered in Moline, Illinois, manufactures agricultural machinery, heavy equipment, forestry machinery, diesel engines, and related components. One of the oldest companies in the United States, Deere traces its history back to John Deere's "self-scouring plow" in 1837. However, even assuming 50 bushels per acre and a $5/bushel average price increase, the revenue per acre would have risen by ~$250/acre. However, while Deere & Company stock has underperformed the S & P this year, its enterprise value is nearly $100 Billion, almost double the company's valuation in January 2020, just before the pandemic. Unsurprisingly, DE options are pricing in a larger-than-average 6% move when the company reports earnings on Thursday.

Doximity — Shares jumped more than 38% after the digital health company reported first-quarter earnings that surpassed expectations. That is more than the 22 cents per share that analysts polled by FactSet were expecting. Expedia reported adjusted earnings of $3.51 per share, versus the $3.06 per share LSEG consensus estimate. Akamai Technologies — The stock rose nearly 11% after the cloud company reported better-than-expected second-quarter results. According to LSEG, analysts expected $1.53 per share on $977 million in revenue.

A Pakistani man allegedly tied to Iran has been charged with an elaborate plot to assassinate current and former government officials, potentially including former President Donald Trump. The complaint does not name an alleged target or targets, but a senior law enforcement official said Trump was one of the potential targets of this plot. Merchant allegedly told the confidential source that the “people who will be targeted are the ones who are hurting Pakistan and the world, [the] Muslim world. On June 10, Merchant allegedly met in New York with undercover law enforcement officers posing as assassins for hire. ☆ 'Sell the first rate cut': Bank of America's top global strategist warns stocks could be in for trouble as the economy heads toward a hard landing and the Fed gets set to slash rates

In an August 1 note to clients, the bank's top global strategist urged investors to sell stocks when the Federal Reserve issues its first rate cut. Hartnett and his team studied the last 12 rate-cutting cycles going back to 1970 and identified three varieties of rate cuts. Hartnett said surging global central bank rate cuts are signs that the economy is in for a rough stretch. Investors expect the Fed to cut rates for the first time this cycle at its September meeting. "Emergency Fed rate cuts being priced in makes little sense given the economic backdrop in the U.S. and would only serve to destroy policy maker credibility."
