Manger said Washington's Metropolitan Police Department received a call reporting a shooter and tried to contact the initial caller without success. But the judge who sentenced Maly noted that most of his crimes date back to his 20s. Maly told US District Judge Amit Mehta that he regrets traveling to Washington and following the mob of then-President Donald Trump's supporters to the Capitol. It's that you did these things and kept doing them that day," the judge told him. Maly testified at his trial that participating in the Capitol riot was "fun" for him. Lamond, who supervised the Intelligence Branch of the police department's Homeland Security Bureau, also made false and misleading statements to federal law enforcement agents about his communications with Tarrio, the Justice Department said. According to the indictment, Lamond and Tarrio had been in regular contact since 2019. Lamond wrote, "Hey brother, sad, sad news today. Tarrio pleaded guilty to charges in the Black Lives banner case and in 2021 was sentenced to five months in prison. A jury in a separate case this month convicted Tarrio and other members of the Proud Boys of seditious conspiracy involving the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol by Trump supporters.
Federal prosecutors allege a DC police lieutenant warned Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio of his impending arrest. Tarrio then passed this information on to other Proud Boys members, according to the indictment. Despite the warning, Tarrio was arrested the same day. Lamond and Tarrio sent hundreds of messages to each other between July 2019 and January 2021, prosecutors say. But the Proud Boys are still thriving despite recent prosecutions, with members focusing on targeting the LGBTQ community, specifically, drag performers, Insider previously reported.

[1/2] Police deploy at the scene of a mass shooting outside an Old National Bank branch near Slugger Field baseball stadium in downtown Louisville, Kentucky, U.S. April, 10, 2023. Police identified the shooter in Louisville as Connor Sturgeon, who was employed at the Old National Bank's downtown branch at the time of the shooting. Monday's shooting brought the number of people killed by gun violence in Louisville to 40 in 2023 so far, Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg said in his remarks at the vigil. The nonprofit group defines a mass shooting as four or more shot or killed, not including the shooter. While mass shootings have become commonplace in the U.S., the shooting stunned the Tennessee city and the country.
The body camera footage opens with an image of the console of the police cruiser as it pulls up to the downtown building. The steering wheel veers wildly from side to side as rookie officer Nickolas Wilt drives the car and his partner, Cory Galloway, shouts directions off camera. After more gunfire, Galloway - who is himself injured - hits the gunman, 25-year-old Connor Sturgeon, from his position out on the steps. "Suspect down," Galloway shouts as he walks into the building. "What you saw on that video was absolutely amazing," Humphrey said after displaying the body camera video from both officers as well as a bystander.

Gardner pepper sprayed Capitol Police and smashed a $2,900 window, according to the DOJ. Before 2020, Gardner was not politically active and voted for Obama twice, his attorneys said. Gardner's attorneys said he voted for Obama "both times" and "did not vote for Donald Trump when he ran for office." It's unclear if Gardner voted for Donald Trump in the 2020 election. After entering the window, Gardner handed another rioter a wooden table leg that they used to attack police, the release says.
