The Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire responded to the 3400 block of McClure Avenue after receiving multiple calls for a house on fire early Saturday morning. An attorney for a 10-year-old Wisconsin boy accused of fatally shooting his mother because she wouldn't allow him to order a virtual reality headset from Amazon asked for the child's bail to be lowered from $50,000 to $100, court records show. During a hearing Wednesday, the attorney, Angela Cunningham, asked for the lower bail amount because the child has no source of income, NBC affiliate WTMJ of Milwaukee reported. The court also set a travel restriction if bail is posted, requiring the boy to stay in Milwaukee County. He admitted that “his mother would not allow him to have something from Amazon that he wanted to have,” it said. A lavender and chamomile-scented aromatherapy spray contaminated with deadly bacteria that killed two people has also killed one of the victim's pet raccoon, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The spray was linked to a multistate outbreak that killed a 5-year-old boy in Georgia and a 53-year-old woman in Kansas. The aromatherapy spray was also the source of the illness of a 53-year-old man in Minnesota and a 4-year-old girl in Texas. According to the CDC, the Texas patient's previously healthy pet raccoon broke a bottle of the spray and walked through the liquid. The bacteria Burkholderia pseudomallei are rarely found in the United States and are generally found in contaminated soil or water in parts of South and Southeast Asia.

Police in New Orleans arrested a man who allegedly killed his Uber driver at the end of a ride, filmed the aftermath and posted it to Facebook, according to officials. She was a budget admin in their fiscal department for the past 10 years, according to NBC affiliate WDSU. The sheriff's office apprehended Jacobs at the hotel within hours of the incident and charged him with second degree murder, according to a news release. "Our investigation has shown that the victim was an Uber driver providing a ride to Jacobs from a location in New Orleans to the hotel," the sheriff's office said in a statement. "When the ride ended, Jacobs stabbed her repeatedly before leaving the vehicle."
A 13-year-old Indiana boy was arrested Friday after investigators determined threats he made on Snapchat to shoot up a dance at his school "were legitimate," police said. The Lafayette Police Department was notified of the Tecumseh Junior High School student's threats on the picture-taking app at 12:14 a.m., according to a news release. The student, whose name was not released, was arrested on a charge of intimidation, according to the release. “However, there will be an increased security presence for the various activities this evening near Jefferson High School and Tecumseh Middle School.”The dance at Tecumseh, a school with 1,102 students in seventh and eighth grade, will go on as planned, according to the school district. “The LPD feels confident this was an isolated individual who made the threat,” Lafayette School Corporation Superintendent Les Huddle said in a statement.
Police in Antioch, California arrested a man on Monday who allegedly punched a fast food restaurant employee in the face, causing her to lose an eye, authorities said. Responding officers found that an employee at the restaurant had been punched in the face multiple times "after protecting an individual with an intellectual disability from being bullied." "The victim lost her right eye because of the incident," police said. The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office, who did not immediately return requests for comment, will be prosecuting this case. In a statement, the Antioch Police Department expressed their "support and gratitude to the victim for helping a community member in need."

A woman who claimed to be related to former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie injured six deputies after she was kicked off of a Spirit Airlines flight on Thanksgiving Day, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office. Epstein refused to exit the jet bridge connecting the plane to the terminal gate and "became extremely combative," Rivarde said. She started to fight the Jefferson Parish deputies and injured six of them -- one she bit on the arm and another she kicked in the groin. Epstein was arrested and handcuffed to a wheelchair as she continued to try to bite deputies. Epstein posted $10,750 bail and was released from the Jefferson Parish Correction Center the same day, according to Rivarde.
Broadway actor Quentin Lee passed away from colon cancer on Tuesday morning. Lee is most known for his portrayal of the phantom in Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera. "The Phantom family is saddened to hear of the passing of Quentin Oliver Lee," the broadway production captioned a picture of Lee on Instagram. Lee announced that he had stage 4 colon cancer on his Instagram account in June. In addition to his wife, Lee is survived by his daughter, Samantha.

The annual Jaycees Christmas Parade in Bowling Green, Kentucky was canceled out of an "abundance of caution," according to a statement. Police arrested two people in connection with the slaying of renowned Migos rapper Takeoff, who was "an innocent bystander" when he was fatally shot last month, Houston authorities said Friday. News of the arrests came one month after Kirshnik Khari Ball, known professionally as Takeoff, was killed on Nov. 1 outside a downtown Houston bowling alley. Officials said Takeoff and Quavo, 31, another member of Migos, were at a private party at 810 Billiards & Bowling. One person died and four others were injured after a "rogue wave" hit the Viking Polaris cruise ship while it was sailing toward Ushuaia, Argentina, on Tuesday night, officials said. “It is with great sadness that we confirmed a guest passed away following the incident,” Viking said in a statement Thursday. A bullet found near the bodies of two teenage girls who were killed in Delphi, Indiana, has been linked to a gun belonging to the suspect in their 2017 deaths, newly unsealed court documents revealed. On Feb. 13, 2017, investigators believe Abby and Libby were dropped off at around 1:49 p.m. near an entrance to the Delphi Historic Trail. "As the male subject approaches Victim 1 and Victim 2, one of the victims mentions 'gun'," according to the document. "Near the end of the video a male is seen and heard telling the girls, 'Guys, down the hill.' Analysis performed by the Indiana State Police laboratory of the weapon determined that the .40 caliber unspent round found near the girls' bodies was allegedly fired from Allen's pistol, according to the document.
Three African migrants who were balancing on a ship's rudder were rescued by the Spanish coast guard on Monday after an 11-day voyage, according to officials. In a tweet published Monday, the coast guard said it rescued the migrants from the rudder of Alithini II, a ship that traveled from Nigeria to the Canary Islands. They can be seen sitting on the ship’s rudder with their backs bent, apparently due to lack of space, in a picture shared by the agency. The Alithini II, an oil and chemical tanker, arrived at the Canary Islands on Monday following an 11-day journey from Lagos, Nigeria, according to Marinetraffic.com. The Canary Islands, a Spanish archipelago off the coast of northwestern Africa, "are a popular gateway for African migrants attempting to reach Europe," with Spanish data showing migration to the archipelago increased to 51% the first five months of 2022 compared to last year, Reuters reported.
