CNN —Head into any gym, and you may find someone walking backward on a treadmill or pedaling in reverse on an elliptical machine. “People are sitting way too much today, plus they lack varied movement.”Quite a few studies have been done on the potential benefits of retro walking, a common term for walking backward. Take it slowly when you first start to walk backward, experts say. Other studies indicate backward motion may help those with knee osteoarthritis and chronic back pain, plus improve gait and balance. People in China have been walking backward for centuries for physical and mental health.

Chesnot | Getty ImagesSanofi stock plunged on Friday, wiping 20 billion euros ($21 billion) off its market value, after it abandoned its 2025 profit target under a plan to list its consumer healthcare business to focus on its core innovative drugs business. Under a push to spend more on immunology and inflammation drug development, the company abandoned a target for a 32% operating profit margin for 2025 to focus on "long-term profitability." Sanofi shares trade at a 12 month forward price-to-earnings ratio of 11, a discount to AstraZeneca's 16 and global pharma index of 17, according to LSEG data. Bayer, led by a new CEO since June, has faced calls by several investors to split off its consumer business. EPS would see a strong rebound in 2025 but not enough to sustain the previous margin target.

Scientists, lawmakers, and those who make their living from Rhode Island’s Narragansett Bay are teaming up to hunt for the reason why quahogs appear to be on the decline. The shells of the large, hard-shelled clam were used by the indigenous Narragansett people as wampum. The clam itself is a staple of clam chowders and in 1987, the Rhode Island Legislature designated the quahog the official “Rhode Island State Shell.”On Tuesday, a special Rhode Island legislative commission held a hearing to study the reduced catch. They don’t move much other than the first 2 to 3 weeks of their lives when they are larvae, according to Conor McManus, of the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management. Quahogs will traditionally start spawning in mid-June first in coves along Narragansett Bay and progress through the season.

But union leaders say Trump's record in the White House speaks for itself. While the United Auto Workers union has withheld an endorsement in the 2024 presidential race, its leadership has repeatedly rebuffed Trump. Despite Trump's history of success in courting blue-collar workers in previous elections, union leaders say their members would do well to believe their own eyes. CNN —If you enjoy walking for exercise, there’s a simple way to maximize your efforts — change your walk into a ruck. Rucking is walking with weight on your back, and it’s an increasingly popular form of exercise. One small September 2019 study showed 10 weeks of weighted walking and resistance training improved physical performance in men while significantly reducing their rate of perceived exertion. It is considered "green" if produced with renewable energy and "gray" if the process is fueled with carbon-emitting natural gas. "When we get to the Gulf, (offshore wind) will start becoming much more disconnected from the grid," said Cheryl Stahl, principal project manager at risk assessment firm DNV. In comments to BOEM on the planned Gulf sale earlier this year, those three companies noted the potential of offshore wind to produce green hydrogen in the region. "The Gulf of Mexico is uniquely situated to facilitate and benefit from green hydrogen production via offshore wind," Shell said in April, pointing to the region's existing port and pipeline infrastructure as well as new federal funding for green hydrogen development. The American Clean Power Association, a trade group that represents offshore wind and other renewable energy developers, also said in its comments to BOEM that green hydrogen would "increase market viability of offshore wind."

The world of central banks and their policies, which include interest rates, may seem abstract — but they affect everyone. Interest rates — the rate at which you are charged or rewarded — are set by central banks, like the Fed or Bank of England. Pros and consHow consumers are affected by interest rates varies according to whether rates are higher or lower. On the flip side, higher interest rates can boost your savings, Mould added. He highlighted the Federal Reserve's restrictive monetary policy and said the impact of last year's interest rate hikes is "yet to be fully felt in the economy." Muscle memory: How does it work?

But while muscle memory is real, that’s not what is actually going on in your body. Understanding how both kinds of muscle memory work can help you get off to a strong start if you’re establishing a new fitness routine or rebooting one after a break. Physiological muscle memoryThe physiological side of muscle memory has to do with the ability to quickly regain lost muscle. This form of muscle memory occurs because when you first build muscle, your body adds new cells to those muscles. Science says another type of muscle memory is related to the regrowth of actual muscle tissue.

Australia hikes minimum wage as living costs surge

REUTERS/Steven Saphore/File PhotoSYDNEY, June 2 (Reuters) - Australia will raise the minimum wage by 5.75% from July 1 as families grapple with soaring living costs, a decision that businesses and some economists say risks further stoking inflation and interest rates. The independent Fair Work Commission (FWC) on Friday decided on a 5.75% pay rise for workers on awards with wages linked to movement in the minimum wage. It also made a technical reclassification for the national minimum wage, which the union says will take the increase to 8.6% for the lowest-paid employees, about 0.7% of the workforce. "Following several recent developments, including the outcome of today's minimum wage decision, we are adding a 25bp hike to our RBA profile in June and another 25bp in July." "Today's increase means these workers can keep their heads above water and not have to cut back even further."

Making money mistakes can be scary and seem catastrophic. A lack of planning and not having specific goals are two of the most common mistakes, experts say. "You might be more likely to maintain contributions or ride out short-term market volatility if that new home, dream trip or once-in-a-lifetime experience is clear in your mind," he added. But plenty of common money mistakes are related to losing or spending money rather than making it. Paying off debt, such as your rent and bills, should be prioritized — not doing so could have serious consequences, Myron Jobson, senior personal finance analyst at interactive investor, tells CNBC Make It.
