Brach’s, a candy brand which dates back to 1904, says it is the leader in the candy corn market by far. Brach's candy corn. One constant that has helped candy corn stay relevant: The ongoing debate about whether candy corn is a great holiday treat or to be avoided. In 2020, Brach’s launched the so-called Turkey Dinner candy corn — a bag filled with candy corn in different flavors, some more appetizing than others. Last year, singer Michelle Williams teamed up with the brand on a promotional song about the candy called “Candy Corn Love.” And this year, the brand announced a candy corn club, saying it would select 100 members to receive free boxes of candy corn throughout the year, with merchandise and new products.

The script was still pliable, and both of them were grasping to achieve the fullness of their characters. Danny was memorizing his lines, looking up toward the heavens every time he drew a blank. His riffs bejeweled every line: When the script called on him to invite his daughter in for breakfast, he instead laid out a menu. While running those lines, Lucy pulled over to ask for directions from von Stuelpnagel: Where is her character, emotionally, right now? LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Southern California street gang leader charged in the fatal shooting of Tupac Shakur in 1996 in Las Vegas will make a court appearance Thursday with a lawyer from one of the city's best-known political families, one that has represented mobsters, athletes and other famous clients. Attorney Ross Goodman told The Associated Press Wednesday he'll appear in Duane “Keffe D” Davis' defense against accusations that Davis orchestrated the drive-by killing of the rap music icon. Davis won't immediately enter a plea, Goodman said, he'll seek another two weeks to confirm that he'll be hired for Davis' case. Goodman is a son of former Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman and current Mayor Carolyn Goodman. In July, a police raid at Davis' home drew renewed interest to Shakur's unsolved murder, one of hip-hop music’s enduring mysteries.

[1/2] Abortion rights demonstrators rally to mark the first anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in the Dobbs v Women's Health Organization case, overturning the landmark Roe v Wade abortion decision, in Washington, U.S., June 24, 2023. It is part of a larger push by women's, reproductive rights and Democratic groups to put abortion rights at the heart of the 2024 campaign and attack anti-abortion measures on local ballots around the country. Midterm exit polls showed that a bump in young voters, and especially women, helped Democrats, and women voters swinging from Trump helped deliver the White House to Biden in 2020. No Dem Left Behind, a political action committee, started training activists this week to reach across the aisle on abortion rights. As Starbucks celebrates the 20th anniversary of its pumpkin spice latte, the coffee chain is adding a third pumpkin drink to its fall menu. Starting Thursday, the iced pumpkin cream chai latte joins the company's existing pumpkin lineup, which also includes the pumpkin cream cold brew, returning for its fifth year. The seasonal menu addition comes as Starbucks customers increasingly choose cold drinks over hot options, no matter the temperature outside. Starbucks' more upscale Reserve locations, which also serve alcohol, will serve special pumpkin spice drinks for the first time, too. The Reserve fall menu includes a pumpkin spice espresso martini, playing off the espresso martini craze, and a pumpkin spice whiskey barrel-aged iced latte.

The New Look in Cocktails? Layers and Stripes.
  + stars: | 2023-08-10 | by ( Robert Simonson | ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: +1 min
Fajita favorites of recent years have included the espresso martini, all manner of blue cocktails and any drink on fire. The latest, though, has something else in common with fajitas besides contagious appeal: layers of colorful ingredients. In a layered cocktail, the various liquid components settle out in separate strata, giving the drink a striped or ombré look. There are two ways to layer a cocktail: floats and sinkers. A sinker is also poured in last but, owing to the ingredient’s weight, falls to the bottom of the glass.
