CNN —Leslie Van Houten, a former Charles Manson follower and convicted murderer, was released from a California prison on Tuesday, a prison spokesperson told CNN. Van Houten was released to parole supervision, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation spokesperson Mary Xjimenez said. Van Houten will have a three-year maximum parole term with a parole discharge review occurring after one year, Xjimenez said. In 1994, Van Houten described her part in the killings in a prison interview with CNN’s Larry King. “I went in and Mrs. LaBianca was laying on the floor and I stabbed her,” said Van Houten, who was 19 at the time of the murders.

But in granting her petition, the appellate judges wrote that Newsom's conclusion "fails to account for the decades of therapy, self-help programming, and reflection Van Houten has undergone in the past 50 years." It marks the first time a court has overruled a governor's denial of parole to a Manson follower, according to the Los Angeles Times. Van Houten was convicted of fatally stabbing grocery owner Leno LaBianca and his wife, Rosemary, in their Los Angeles home on Aug. 10, 1969. CNN —Several familiar faces are walking the walk in support of TV and movie writers who are on strike. Members of the Writers Guild of America earlier this week after failing to reach a new contract agreement with studios and streamers. Jay Leno brought doughnuts to a picket line in video shared on social media. Deadline shared a video of “Sex and the City” star Cynthia Nixon at a picket line in New York City. “I think it’s incumbent upon all of us who care about writers, who care about creative television and movies, to come out here and show support.”
A writers' strike has been underway since overnight Monday. Thousands of Hollywood writers have fanned out across the streets of Los Angeles since early Tuesday afternoon, waving signs and chanting to demonstrate their resolve. Insider spoke with eight WGA members who are picketing or contributing to the work stoppage in other ways. Are you a member of the Writers Guild of America or do you work in the entertainment industry? How is the writers' strike impacting you?
Topical shows relying on actively scripted material, including late night, will be the most immediately affected. The strike — which was authorized by nearly 98% of Writers Guild of America members who voted last month — will most immediately impact shows that rely on active writers' rooms working on current material, including "Saturday Night Live" and late night shows. The moment may be an opportunity for reality TV producers as well as non-union productions. Some celebrities on shows likely to be impacted have addressed the possibility of the impending strike on the late night circuit. Davidson acknowledged a writer's strike might mean his "SNL" episode doesn't happen as planned and said he gained a new perspective working on the production as a prospective host.

LONDON, March 6 (Reuters) - Brentford fuelled their ambition of playing European football with a 3-2 home victory over fellow hopefuls Fulham to extend their unbeaten run in the Premier League to 12 games on Monday. Ivan Toney's second-half penalty and a late effort by Mathias Jensen sealed the points for ninth-placed Brentford against their west London rivals to edge them closer to the European qualification places. Brentford had taken an early lead with a deflected shot by Ethan Pinnock but Fulham hit back shortly before halftime when Manor Solomon scored for the fourth successive league match. The hosts were rampant and Bryan Mbeumo grazed the upright with a free kick before Toney also saw a free kick bounce back off the woodwork. Fulham levelled in the 39th minute when another free kick hit the frame of the goal but this time Andreas Pereira's superb effort bounced down for Israeli Solomon to nod home.

According to NBC, Leno joked to reporters outside the venue, “We got two shows tonight. Regular and extra crispy.”This week’s interview will appear on NBC News’ “Today” show on Wednesday.
Two years ago, we invited Jay Leno to write about his love of cars, and his thoughts about driving during the pandemic. In that article, he also talked about his fondness for electric cars. A lot has happened in those two years, with technology companies, auto makers and governments betting a lot of money on electric vehicles as the transportation of the near future. So we thought it was time to check in with Mr. Leno, who is back performing at comedy clubs after his accident in which he suffered severe burns while working on one of his cars. He has new material from the accident, he says.

He has undergone two surgical procedures to treat his injuries, Dr. Peter Grossman, his physician, previously announced. “Jay would like to let everyone know how thankful he is for the care he received, and is very appreciative of all of the well wishes,” the hospital added in their statement.
Days after Jay Leno was seriously injured in a garage fire, his doctor said Wednesday that he hopes the longtime television host will be released within the week. The doctor added that they added temporary skin grafts from “human cadaver skin” to Leno’s body, which is a standard procedure. The source said the fire broke out while Leno — an avid car collector and host of "Jay Leno’s Garage" — was working on his 1907 White Motor Company steam-powered car in his garage in Burbank, California. “I got some serious burns from a gasoline fire,” the longtime TV host said in the statement. “It’s a little bit too soon to talk about when he’s going to be released,” he said, adding that burns can be unpredictable.
CNN —Jay Leno has undergone one surgery for his burn injuries and will undergo a second procedure later this week, according to his physician. “When got pulled out from the area underneath the car, it was noted that he had pretty significant burns to face and hands,” he said. “His burns include his face, his hands, and his chest, the burns are fairly significant,” Grossman noted. His injuries are a mixture of second-degree and possibly some third-degree burns, according to Grossman. Right now they’re in that progression of somewhere between deep second and third-degree burns to the face.
