Goldman Sachs has named "Seven Samurai" stocks in Japan, which it says could be an equivalent of the United States' "Magnificent Seven." But Apple’s board of directors hated the 1984 ad, according to some of the ad executives who worked on the campaign. They hated it so much, in fact, that they ordered the agency that made it, Chiat/Day, to sell off the time they had already purchased on that year’s Super Bowl, rather than run the ad. He said it also changed the way that companies thought about Super Bowl ads in the 40 years since it aired. Two verbal slip-ups in the last few days are again bringing the concerns about the president’s cognition to the forefront. A January NBC poll of 1,000 registered voters found that three quarters of all voters, including half of Democrats, had concerns about Biden’s physical or mental health. The White House did not immediately provide a response to this story. In last year’s physical, Biden’s physician said an “extremely detailed” neurologic exam found no findings that would be consistent with stroke, multiple sclerosis or Parkinson’s disease. As with his previous physical in 2021, the White House did not say whether Biden underwent any cognitive tests, which some doctors recommend for older adults.

CNN —Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley on Sunday said that while she doesn’t need to beat former President Donald Trump in her home state’s Republican presidential primary next month, the results need to be better for her than they were in New Hampshire. Polls show Haley has a major gap to close in South Carolina, which holds its GOP primary February 24, if she intends to shave off some of Trump’s momentum following his 11-point victory in the far less conservative New Hampshire race last week. Haley said Trump can’t “bully his way to the nomination” as he ramps up pressure on supporters to abandon Haley. When asked Sunday whether she would be willing to be Trump’s running mate, Haley said she was running to win.

He suggested one of investors' top concerns would be the 10% tariff on all U.S. imports. Trump floated the 10% tariff during an interview last year with Fox Business' Larry Kudlow, his former White House economic advisor, saying "it's a massive amount of money." China responded with its own tariffs on U.S. goods, and Trump also imposed tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from most countries, including many of Washington's biggest allies. He noted Trump's tendency to "change his mind" so frequently on geopolitical issues that "people won't know where his thinking is at."
